EC-37B and EC-130H Compass Calls - Davis Monthan

Post by John Young »

This package, for FSX and P3D, features the first 4 examples of the USAF EA-37B Compass Call, electronic attack aircraft, based at Davis Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona. Built on the Gulfstream G550 airframe, the aircraft is heavily modified to disrupt enemy command and control communications, perform offensive counterinformation operations and other forms of electronic attacks. It is progressively replacing the Lockheed EC-130H aircraft of the same name and co-located at the same airfield. 10 EA-37B’s are planned in total. 4 EC-130Hs are currently still active, according to the Scramble database.

The new EA-37B models (my thanks to Steve for suggesting them):

The aircraft use the existing Davis Monthan package made by Brent Newman and myself, updated to accommodate the new aircraft, and included in the new package.

I just have the manual to finish and then I will assemble the zip and get it uploaded. Just a few hours testing of the Manaus helicopters in the Brazil Part 2 package to do for Tim first.

They look superb, as always, JY.

Interestingly, although everything I have seen says that they will have 10 delivered Scramble actually has 13 serials allocated.

Yes, I have those 13 serials too Steve, but they are not all complete otherwise I would have painted more to use as they come on stream. As it is, I'll just keep an eye out and update when things change.

I agree Chris, sad to see another C-130-type disappearing.

Any way, the EA-37B/EC-130H package is all done and uploaded this morning. Martin, the upload seem to go fine, but I didn't get an acknowledgement. After a short while I was returned to the forum screen. Hope it's with you.

Looking over the Italian E-550s, not seeing many differences from the EC-37 in terms of antenna arrangement. The Israeli DF have 2 types.

Singapore also use 4 exemples of these G550 models (like Italians)

Yes I know, as does Israel. I have tried to paint those, but the blue stripe over the side antenna, fuselage and fin is very difficult to do continuously, given the way I had to map the texture in the USAF version. Australia also has 4 on order (Peregrine), but as far as I can see, only one is flying and the last photograph I have shows it in primer colours.
