Re: ILyushin IL-82 (RATS Ilyushin IL-76 Modification)
Hello,
there is a Il-82 available. I find it in a russian forum. But not freeware. The russian guy sell it for some dollars (I buy it some times ago, before the the russian invasion of ukraine).
It's a RATS model.
There are also other russian models (like Tu-214R, Tu-214PU...)
I don't know if this russian forum is still online.

I made my own mode with the use of blender. I took the normal RATS model to blender and modeled the rest of the plane.

I do the same for the E-4B (using sketshup instead of blender).FlyingBP_2707 wrote: ↑09 Jan 2025, 19:57 I made my own mode with the use of blender. I took the normal RATS model to blender and modeled the rest of the plane.
I merge my dome antenna with a FAIB 747-200 but have problem of visibility in FS2004 (in MCX, all is ok).

Do you need permission to do that?

Re: ILyushin IL-82 (RATS Ilyushin IL-76 Modification)
Guess it would depend on what copyright language is written into the readme by the original author(s)... But a way around it would be to just share the mod parts by themselves with instructions on how to make the mod yourself in MCX... The one I would be questioning is what was mentioned above about the Russian guy / website selling the modified models... Seems to me like selling a modification of someone else's freeware would be "very shady" at best if not illegal...

Sorry, I can't share my mod. Is it just experimental for my personnal use. I don't have persmission of FAIB to share a modified model

You cant share the full model I think but theoretically you could share only the parts to modify the airplane (via merging the two files in MCX) like in the second picture but I dont know if RATS or FAIB would be allowing this either.

Re: ILyushin IL-82 (RATS Ilyushin IL-76 Modification)
Well that is the whole point of sharing just the parts and not a converted model... You do not need their (RATS / FAIB) permission to do that, as all you are sharing is the parts that you made yourself; you are not sharing any of their copyrighted work to which they have legal rights... It is a legal way around the problem... Hence in some cases for those of us who use 64 bit models (P3dv4+) when we couldn't get permission from authors to convert their work for example authors were no longer around / unreachable; the answer was to create conversion kits that could be done on individual's computers this way we were not re-distributing someone else's work without their permission, just our own work that individuals could privately use if they choose to do so... Perfectly legal...
With that in mind if you are up for it... Please share your parts kits!!

Similar situation to the providers of replacement or add-on parts for plastic model kits I would think.
