Help with AI PC-21

Post by marvinblue007 »

Hi there. I've recently gotten into FSX:SE and have downloaded a few things from MAIW to replicate RAAF bases and aircraft. However, I can't get the AI PC-21 to show up in game. I've written a couple of flight plans for some of these aircraft. I can hear them on the radio and hear their engines, but the model itself is invisible, except for the nav lights. I'm guessing it's because it's a P3Dv4 model? If so, does anyone have a copy of the FSX version?

This is the pack that I'm having trouble with: https://militaryaiworks.com/download-ha ... conversion

By the way, thanks heaps for everyone's efforts that have been put into these packs, they're awesome!!

P3Dv4 models definitely don't work in FSX. To be honest I'm not aware of there ever being an FSX native version of the PC-21. FS9 native models will usually show up and act normally albeit with transparency issues and maybe an FPS hit.

Which PC-21 AI model are you using? I am using the MAIW_MGAI_PC-21 in FSX. The textures I have are all for the RAAF, are in DDS format, and display in FSX. Soryy, I don't recall where I found the model or repaints.

Hi there, thanks for the replies. I'm using this package: "MAIW MGAI Pilatus PC-21 Conversion" says the compatibility is for P3Dv4.

Is your traffic file in FSX format and do you have any rogue FS9 traffic files in your FSX\scenery\world\scenery folder or in local scenery folders? FS9 traffic files in FSX or P3D will cause traffic not to show.

You can use the tool in the drop down menu of AI Flight Planner to check and convert:

As far as I am aware there is no FSX version of Mark Griggs' PC-21. As you have discovered, the P3Dv4 model does not work in FSX. The FS2004 version works fine in FSX, available here https://www.flightsim.com/files/file/16 ... o=download. You can swap out the .dds texture files from the P3Dv4 version to use with the FS2004 version in FSX and again they work fine, at least they do for me!

Thanks both for your help and replies. I don't think I've got any rouge flightplans, I'll check to be sure. I'll give the 2004 file a go and see what happens. Cheers!!
