Pave Hawks and White Rockets

Post by phantomfreak »

Uploaded repaints of the MH-60G Pave Hawks and T-38A Talons covering the 1988 - 1990 time period. The Pave Hawks represent the very first ones delivered to the USAF prior to 1990 and the T-38's cover the rest of the fleet that I had not painted as retro.

Thank you very much! I look forward to seeing the white T-38s. That was one of my projects that I lost track of.
I remember when I was in training at Vance AFB in 1999 T-38s were getting repainted, but mostly all white at the start of the year.

I just unpacked the T-38s... a lot of aircraft!

But... the AFCAD folder is empty?

Thanks a LOT for these, Jason! An enormous piece of work...

But this has led me to two missing bases, that I can't seem to find - KMCC and KREE.

Does anyone have any tips on how to find sceneries for these?

The T-38 flight plans for KIWA are missing positional info for 1LUF, according to AIFP.

I've attached the 1LUF file.

KMCC (McLellan AFB) is in Orbx Northern California (normal and True Earth versions) but only in its post-BRAC civilian form, and greatly simplified. There are MAIW traffic files for the C-27, and 10 Tanker aircraft, so there's probably an FS9 version of the airfield in the Download Hangar somewhere.

KREE (Reese AFB) closed in 1997 and, as far as I can tell, was never covered by MAIW. It is now the Reese National Security Complex and Reese Center. Google Earth Pro has some good info, including a B&W shot from 1996 that shows a full flight line. Wikipedia has the same shot in lower resolution, plus a shot of the tower, so recreating the base should be easy enough.

Edit: the main runway (35/17C) is still open as Resse Airpark and has the designator 8XS8. It does exist in P3D, but at a very basic level.

Thanks, Tim, but I had the 1LUF file itself already.

What I do when I get compiled flight plans, is to wring them through AIFP and then save them as aircraft, airport and flight plan files, then compile them with AIFP again to see if AIFP throws an error. This happened here only with the KIWA plans, where AIFP said there were no positional data for 1LUF, meaning that there was no line for 1LUF in the airports file. So it that missing one line I am looking for. I looked in the airport files in the other plans in the package, but no 1LUF entries there.

Phantomfreak, thanks very much for these. Plenty of parking for the T-38s!

One issue, though: is there any way one can change the ICAO of 8XS8 to KREE? I have looked at the ADE manual and at FSDeveloper, but can't really see how it can be done. Or maybe create a "double identity" or alias, so that aircraft wanting to go to KREE in reality go to and land at/take off from 8XS8?

Jorgen, if you don't have the ADE source for this airport, you need to import it to ADE from the BGL. Then you need to change the ICAO of the airport in ADE and recompile it.

Or Jason recompiles it for you as a Christmas present... :smt001

A wonderful Christmas time to you all.

Stay safe!
Cheers,
Martin

Martin,

I have tried that, and it doesn't want to work. The ICAO ID should be able to be changed in the "Airport Properties" dialog, but the ICAO ID there is greyed out.

Jorgen

And hereby a merry Christmas to everyone, with profound thanks for all the fun we have together.

Hi Jorgen,

If you edit the ICAO code in the RAW data menu should do the trick.
