Re: NAS North Island
NAS NORTH ISLAND. I was hoping that someone converted them to P3D.
Mark, in the post above, has helpfully given you the link to the Download Hangar 'Search' page. You haven't really given us any details of what aircraft packages you're using or which airfield layout you've employed. If it's the ...

Re: NAS North Island
If the models don't show at all, that is not a texture-file problem. BMPs work perfectly well in P3D. I've answered this over at FSDev, but in case you see it here first:
the likelihood is you're using the aircraft and traffic files that came in that FS9-era package. FS9 aircraft will generally not ...

Re: NTTR
The only changes made to the KLSV scenery was the update to make it compatible with P3Dv4 for the Matrix product, as far as I'm aware. That update was withdrawn along with Matrix a few years ago. OP has just transitioned to FSX:SE, I believe, and the FS9 KLSV should work in that sim.

Re: Imgur now removed from UK
That's interesting, Jim. In fact, having just tried it after seeing your post, it's working for me too now. No idea why it objected yesterday!
So Opera is a workable solution for now. It seems like a good browser too.

Re: Imgur now removed from UK
I've discovered that the Opera browser (that I used to use years ago!) includes a free VPN. It works in that I can access Imgur that way - so I can delete my account - but it's not a viable way of seeing MAIW with Imgur-hosted images, as MAIW rejects the connection with the error ERR_TUNNEL ...

Re: COMPUTER ADVICE
How is an SDK for P3D going to help with this issue? ADE collects the airports and allows access to make changes. However the paths that I used for the compile and save options are not correct. I just need to find out where I can learn the right paths.
The FSX:SE SDK included by Steam is ...

Re: Imgur now removed from UK
I've now discovered that I can't even log in to delete the account, so I have lost all control over my Imgur account unless I can find a free trial of a VPN for long enough to get in - I have raised a ticket with Imgur, but their response was 'log in to cancel your account'!!

Re: Imgur now removed from UK
Oh dear - that's killed all my images posted here over many years. First the Microsoft Windows 11 wrecking ball and now this.

It's more straws, isn't it? I hope that Imgur will resolve its differences with the UK Government, but I don't anticipate that happening quickly. I'm not going to ...

You need the P3D v1.4 PDK, available here. You'll need to tell ADE where to find BglComp and ShpToVec (Settings/Program Options/Folders).

Imgur now removed from UK
For those of us that used Imgur to host images - as I did for almost everything I posted in MAIW - the owners have now closed down UK access to the site as they don't agree with the implementation of the Online Safety Act. Ignoring the political factors, this does mean that to access Imgur from UK ...

Re: COMPUTER ADVICE
Steam cleaned up quite a bit of code in FSX:SE that makes it more reliable on modern versions of Windows. From a user's perspective, other than it 'just works', there's no practical difference from boxed FSX. And it costs £1.99 currently, or a bit less than half a pint of beer.

I have FS9 running on Win 11 Pro - though I must admit I haven't started it up for a couple of years. Aso FSX:SE. Neither have any problems with Win 11.

Re: Boeing talks about reboot of C-17 production
My mate Nobby Clarke was 'our man' on the C-17 at Charleston way back in 1996 - before I left the RAF - and became the first RAF trainer on the type when it entered service here in 2001. The last aircraft was delivered in 2015, but most were delivered in the first 10 years of production so the ...

Re: Boeing talks aboit reboot of C-17 production
While I think this is probably still in the realms of idle speculation, I think several of the current operators would welcome the opportunity to supplement or even replace their current C-17 fleets - it's an old aircraft now, and there's no replacement on the horizon. A C-17B with more modern ...

Re: AIFP3 NOT WORKING
Osan was converted by MAIW to P3Dv4 format for the Matrix product, but that's no longer available - and it's in a configuration which is now out of date as the airfield now has two runways and some significant differences in apron arrangements. I did do an update of it for my own use some time ago ...

Re: AIFP3 NOT WORKING
Quite a lot changed for P3Dv6, but in general I found that sceneries that worked for v5.3+ would be ok in v6. That included older sceneries that I modified myself to be compatible with 5.3+. So ADE 1.79 can be used to update older AFCADs and MCX can update the scenery objects. It's not a guaranteed ...

Re: End of Life for MAIW?
Evening all. As some may know, like John I've put my creative tools to bed for now as Real Life (TM) has demanded a great deal more of my attention and, like Manschy, I've returned to music as my primary hobby. However, as I mentioned in my post in the Developers' forum, I intend to upload all of my ...

Re: United Kingdom to Buy F-35A Lightning for Tactical Nuclear Strike Role
The F-35A buy is something the RAF has been pushing for for some years. The rekindling of a perceived need for aircraft-delivered tactical nukes has opened the door, and there are many in the upper realms of the RAF who are hoping that it will develop into a force of 36 or more aircraft. Indeed, it ...

Thanks Derek. I think it's unlikely - for now - that I'll completely divorce myself from the community. After a lifetime in military and civilian aviation, I have a vast amount of knowledge that I hope I can use from time to time to help out, but I have to make more space in my life for other things ...
