Very true but AIFP shouldn't be confused with AIPFC, different beasties by different people. AIPFC is purely about converting already created plans.

HTAI F-16's in FSX

Post by robystar »

Hi,

When using the F-16's from the AK and Islands package, I noticed the following:
- bumpy take off and landing;
- vibrating aircraft during some climbing and approach stages.
As I love the models and the repaints, I set myself to remedy these imperfections.
It took me a while but I now have the F-16's flying, landing and taking of smoothly.
In case somebody is experiencing the same on his setup, here is what I changed in the aircraft.cfg:
[weight and balance]
empty weight=19000
pitch MOI=50000
roll MOI= 138000
yaw MOI= 44000
(contact points]
0.95 for damping ratio for points 0,1, and 2
[Flight tuning]
pitch stability= 1.6
[turbineenginedata]
inlet area=7
static thrust=4600
[reference speeds]
cruise speed=422

For what it is worth and hope it gives you the same improvement in the AI F-16 behavior as it does in my game.
Probably not all changes are necessary but I do not feel like changing the cfg any further as now all works fine.

Eric, are you saying that your afcad for EGXC has no parking spots?

I know that it was a lot. Can you confirm that your scenery has been activated successfully and that you are not seeing the default afcad which has no parking.

I think you mean the 336F code correct, that's what I have on mine, that's the Strike Eagles out of SJ.

I had to go back and look up the development thread for Nellis to check on this. After some digging, it looks like those were meant for F-16s from Osan. I never see them there in my sim but I don't think I have the Osan pack installed still.

I think the "36F" is for the 36th Fighter Squadron.

Well the osan F-16s are coded 36FS, not 36F, I was going to change tht parking code to 36FS or some other squadron but ADE wont let me without changing alot of other things about nellis. Kinda a Bummer those spots dont have anybody to fill them.

Use Afcad 2.21 then like the developer did, if you really must fill those spots?

To be honest, in the early days we didn't think it mattered. It's just something that we have learned over time that it does.

I know it is the FSX support thread but you would be surprised how many people mis-read a forum.

As I get to know FSX more, just wondering if it's just me or do the LOD's seem to load later than in FS9? Just downloaded and tested the Whiteman AFB V3 package, sitting on the A-10 ramp looking at the AH-64's, the closest ones are LOD1 for sure, but the model just a few feet away will be at LOD3 or 4. I've got a new fast machine and for online play have reduced the FPS down to 30, but offline I can run unlimited with no issues.

I think I remember reading something that someone over at ACG wrote about this issue. Might have been Ian (rocket_26).
