ADE Limits

Post by DaleRFU »

Just a quick question, I am working on a AFD using ADE and I had a message come up saying that I have reached the max number of nodes I can place, now is that to do with ADE or flightsim and is there a way around it by increasing the number that it allows?

Regards
Dale

Dale,

I am not aware of that

Can you please send me the source file? I have asked Jon if we have such a limit.
Cheers,
Martin

More likely a BGLCompiler limit.

Helli knows it better than I (no wonder, he is writing the manual :smt002 )

On the top of page 118 of the English Manual it says:

"There is a limit imposed by the Microsoft Compiler for the maximum taxi point index. This is 3999. Such a high number is unlikely to affect most users. However for large and complex airports it is possible to get close."

Helli
What is the count in your airport, Dale?
Cheers,
Martin

You can also only have 256 apron polygons using ADE.

The current count is 3993. I wrote to the people who made ADE via their website, and they have said that FS limits you to 4000 nodes

Break it up into two separate ADE files. One with your main airbase stuff and one with just the taxiway links.

That must be one hell of an airbase, if you can get to 3993 nodes  Unless you've embarked on the taxiway stripes adventure I mentioned in a previous post

You can get round that by using the complex split function Mike.

You can only have 300 coded parking spots to, and all of those must be in the first 300 index.

No limits enforced by ADE are 'ADE' limits. They are those from the relevant FS9 or FSX compiler. AFCAD or AFX may not have these limits since they do not use the standard compilers. 4,000 taxi nodes IS a lot. Apart from the compiler they may also be creating a strain on the FS graphics engine.
