" I've already started a list of thing they have wrong "

I'm saddened by that.
I'm grateful when developers go to the effort of producing something for us.

It's not a big list or major things. Just stuff I look forward to tinkering with. I too am grateful that they are producing a native FSX F-111. :D

Yes it will be neat.
The Alphasim F-111 was the first aircraft that I loaded when I started Flight Simulation.
And over the years I have downloaded all of Steve Hess's brilliant panels to
make it even better , I consider myself very fortunate as this is one capable and fun bird to fly.
Thank you Steve for all your hard work on F-111 , it's much appreciated.

Do remember the RAAF F1-11's are not standand U.S. models. They may be called C, G and RF but have many differences in the fuselage and wing.

The C models were A's with B wings and landing gear. The G's were converted FB-111A's.

You are very close they actually had the gear of the FB-111A and the wings of the F-111B, which taking into account the FB-111As had the wings of the F-111B, you can almost say they had the wings and gear of the FB-111A.

I think what Mark was actually referring to was mainstream standard shorter wings of the A/D/E/F. There was not an awful lot of difference between the C and G which is why the Aussies bought the G later.

As a FB-111A avionics systems specialist, I know the F-111s pretty well. There is are lot of differences between the C and G. Most having to do with the type of intakes the two aircraft have. The Gs are converted FB-111As. Like any military aircraft series, they are the same only different. :-)

Fair enough, I am talking to a techie.
When making posts it's a difficult thing trying to judge the target audience. You are absolutely right that there are far more differences than I mentioned, I was guessing that you weren't into the nitty gritty of each version. I was aiming for a more general audience. Apologies.

You get me talking about F-4 variants and I can/do bore people stupid on that subject, and I have no doubt I will do it again as well.

I could enter this debate and actually set the record straight given a few pages of differences but you guy's are having fun and I'm in enough hotwater for one month!

Lets just say that there are differences not that you will really sit there pointing them out in the sim as they taxi by, any F1-11 is a great F1-11 to me. Dump and burn baby! :P

Been having a poke about my 111 model lately, and I've reach the point of decision in animating the Pave Tack system.
Keeping in mind that this is for AI, and the realism is going to be rather limited, I've come up with two options.

First is to try to simulate the Pave Tack being locked onto a target - in this mode it will move to counter the aircraft's roll and pitch to simulate a lock on. This was damnably hard to code and looks quite cool, but I'm not sure it's actually too realistic for it to be in this mode 100% of the time now that I've watched it for a while.

Second option would be a basic looping searching animation, wherein the PT would be swivelling around to a new position every few seconds. I think this is likely a more realistic simulation of what would happen while cruising along at low altitude.

I guess there is a third option - leave it static pointing forward. But this would be a bit dull!

Thoughts?

Just to draw your attention to the JYF-111E/F thread in Retro Mititary AI which is "hiding" in "Your Projects/packages "
John Young is looking for info on loadouts for the F-111C included in his new FB111A/F-111G/C model .We all know the sheep were carried in the bomb bay so you just have to use your imagination on that count
