New Website Display
Your new website is not showing up correctly for me. I am running IE8, Windows 7 64bit. For me to see anything in the left column I have to scroll down quite a bit. The website displays correctly in Google Chrome. Is there something in IE8 I need to do to correct the display.
Thanks,
Ken

Re: New Website Display
I don't have a problem in IE8 so it must be either Win7 or something else on your system that is causing it.supernova48 wrote:Your new website is not showing up correctly for me. Re: New Website Display
It sounds like a problem with the flash image rotator. You should have had the same problem with the old site, no?
Check if you have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player.
Also turn compatibility mode off if you have it on. You won't need it for the new site.

Re: New Website Display
Yeah you need to play around with the compatibility mode button in your address bar if your using IE8.

Re: New Website Display
That did it for me. One click on the compatability button, and column now looks correct. Should have remembered that from the old site. Thank you.

Re: New Website Display
Thats it. The previous page required to be viewed in compatibility mode. IE8 remembers the compatibility setting per address hence the new page, designed to current standards is presented in compatibility mode too with negative results!
So just disable compatibility mode for MAIW's page and you will be fine. During beta I had always to switch back and forth depending on which instance I called.
BTW great job Greg

Re: New Website Display
This site was designed with all the latest browsers in mind. Compatibility mode only makes sense if you want to look at a site that was designed for older versions of Internet Explorer.
Re: New Website Display
Or use one of the other browsers like Google Chrome or Firefox (both superior in my opinion to any IE product).

So does that mean that nothing can be done for IE7, upgrade or live with it?campbeme wrote:Yeah you need to play around with the compatibility mode button in your address bar if your using IE8.

Re: New Website Display
I can't remember whether IE7 has compatibility settings or not. If it does try using it. I must confess that the only thing I use any IE for is the MS updates.

Sorry Terry but it's like saying "hey why doesn't my 15 year old CRT TV play HD channels in Full HD"? and blaming the cable company.
I had the choice between developing the site with the latest technology, or downgrade the site and throw some features overboard so it would work with older Internet Explorer versions. I hope you understand.
Is there a reason maybe why you're not upgrading or switching to a much better alternative?

I do have firefox, I just dont use it much, it seems that every time I do use it, I have to wait and go thru the whole upgrade to current version thing, plus I haven't figured out how to integrate my email program into it like it is in IE. When I upgraded IE 6 to 7 it caused some issues and new things to learn, and I just dont have the time to mess with it right now, It took me a looong time to figure out how to use a computer, I just don't like having to upgrade constantly. I probably will get IE8 eventually, Just don't do anything to the site that makes me have to go to Windows 7, cause it isn't happening.
Seriously the new site is great keep up the good work!

TJ, if you don't like adding more proggies to the ever growing registry of yours and don''t like how they can conflict, then try http://portableapps.com/. Amongst the vast number of proggies that have been modified to run from USB keys, if you want, are portable versions of Firefox, Google Chrome, and SeaMonkey.
Definitely a site to check out.
