FS9 Control Sensitivities

Post by phantomfreak »

Just noticed this on my system. I have the CH Throttle Quadrant and I was flying yesterday when I noticed that my throttles settings were not correct. Checking the settings under Settings, Controls, Sensitvities; my control sentivities were off on my throttle and FlightSim Yoke. OK, no problem, set them where I wanted clicked OK and restarted FS9. However upon restarting FS9 and rechecking my sensitivities they were not saved and had defaulted back to what they were. Do I a) need to delete my FS9.cfg and let it rebuild or can I b) change the values in the FS9.cfg?

You don't do anything in FS if you want to change your sensitivities, use the CH Control Manager program and calibrate each CH device properly. If you don't do that then you will never get the responses you are hoping for. You can even set dead zones using that program.

If you are familiar with that proggy and you have set everything correctly then I apologise but I may be getting the wrong point from your post.

I am able to calibrate and the CH Control Manager and everything seems fine there. However when I start up the sim and I'm trying to fly the HJG KC-135, my engine throttles at idle at start are ok. It's when I advance the throttles to check them where I get the problem. The No. 1 and No. 3 engines when advanced and brought to idle remains at about 55%. No. 2 works ok, and the No.4 has no effect. That's with using the CH Throttle Quadrant. Using the throttle on the Flightsim Yoke, all four are in sync. That is why I was suspecting that the FS9.cfg may need to be adjusted there. Sorry if I created any confusion.

Glad you got it sorted. Are you on Win7/8 by any chance?

These are the values I was having problems with:

[JOYSTICK_MAIN {17BEE5B0-4236-11E2-8004-444553540000}]
AXIS_EVENT_01=AXIS_THROTTLE1_SET
AXIS_SCALE_01=64
AXIS_NULL_01=36
AXIS_EVENT_02=AXIS_THROTTLE2_SET
AXIS_SCALE_02=127
AXIS_NULL_02=1
AXIS_EVENT_04=AXIS_THROTTLE4_SET
AXIS_SCALE_04=0
AXIS_NULL_04=0
AXIS_EVENT_05=AXIS_THROTTLE3_SET
AXIS_SCALE_05=64
AXIS_NULL_05=36

And changed them to this.
[JOYSTICK_MAIN {17BEE5B0-4236-11E2-8004-444553540000}]
AXIS_EVENT_01=AXIS_THROTTLE1_SET
AXIS_SCALE_01=127
AXIS_NULL_01=1
AXIS_EVENT_02=AXIS_THROTTLE2_SET
AXIS_SCALE_02=127
AXIS_NULL_02=1
AXIS_EVENT_04=AXIS_THROTTLE4_SET
AXIS_SCALE_04=127
AXIS_NULL_04=1
AXIS_EVENT_05=AXIS_THROTTLE3_SET
AXIS_SCALE_05=127
AXIS_NULL_05=1

In my FS9.cfg there are two entries titled [JOYSTICK_MAIN {different addresses here}], I compared the two and to what problems I was seeing and changed it appropriately.

Also, in the same way I adjusted my aileron and elevator sensitivities.

This will be the lines you would be looking for
AXIS_EVENT_00=AXIS_AILERONS_SET
AXIS_SCALE_00=127
AXIS_NULL_00=1
AXIS_EVENT_01=AXIS_ELEVATOR_SET
AXIS_SCALE_01=127
AXIS_NULL_01=1

127 seems to be maximum value

Hope this helps.

Hey Phantom, Many thanks seems to have worked a charm! at least it's stable so far :D If fs9 decides to rewrite the settings I can spank it with these settings, thanks again.
