I'm off on another track. Got the engineers working hard and have resurfaced the three runways and main taxiways at RAF St Eval.
I've got much more work for them to do; parking, hangars, control tower, some support buildings. Also have to get 238 Sqdn. Hurricanes
a place to live. (protection against the 'Jerrys'). Gotta get the place in shape for some of John Young's B-24s that I understand are
going to be showing up.
Have got to get the colors on the western side to match a bit better.
You have to be careful and watch out for those new fangled 'whirlybirds' and planes without propellers
from over at St Mawgan.
I've given St Eval the airport code of EGSE. I haven't found what it was when operational. If any
one knows of the proper code please let me know. Still some work to do. If any of you older folks
in the UK (not meaning to insult anyone, what I mean is around my age - the place did close in 1959)
have first or second hand knowledge of the station, I would appreciate hearing from you.
The download hangar is currently disabled. We're doing our best to bring it back as soon as possible.

Re: RAF St Eval - 1943
I can't find one for St Eval, even though it was open after the ICAO system came in. However, you can't use EGSE as that is Ipswich.
My best guess would be that St Eval would be in the EGDx range, like other mil airfields in the region.
I found this site that is a comprehensive list of UK airfields including past ones http://www.airfieldinformationexchange. ... ICAO-codes. It maybe that EGDE maybe the best fit for you as it seems to be unassigned.

Re: RAF St Eval - 1943
Allrighty then, EGDE it'll be. I used EGSE because when I asked my "Go To Airport" for it there was none ! ??
I better fly over to Ipswich to see if they're still home. Maybe they're on holiday in my system.
EDIT: Found Ipswich on Google Earth. It appears to be a housing development now with no trace of a runway.
There also appears whats left of an airfield to the east. Maybe it was called Martlesham? Martlesham isn't in the airfield list above.

I couldn't find an icao for RAF Martlesham Heath either, which when you think that it was the trials place for blind landings is a bit strange.

Very subtle, Giorgio but I did spell it correctly.

Right now this is FSX using FTX Global. I'm planning on using mostly MAIW scenery objects, etc. as they seem to work in FSX.merlin101 wrote:Looking nice! FS9 or FSX?

I don't see why it would not work in FS9, though I may have to fiddle with the photo background to make it match the FS9 scenery.
It rained all day today, so no new concrete was poured for the parking. Forecast for the next week is clear so maybe some of the hangars
will get started.

Hi mate, looking good , yes EGSE is Ipswich, I did some scenery for it many years ago it should still be on Flightsim.com . I was going to rework it but it closed and as you say is a huge housing estate with restaurants, a health centre and supermarkets.
