Re: A brand new MS Flight Simulator is coming...

Thanks for that. Tim. They do seem like really obvious upgrades for such a detailed sim.

Enjoy the updated Japan scenery that has just been made available in game.

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon

Thanks Steve. Was that finger trouble on my part? I don't think it was finger trouble, Tim. It may just have been overlooked as you had a lot on for these packages. The trouble is I am never really sure how much everybody knows about the nuts and bolts that operate behind the scenes. For anybody ou...

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon

They can be used for both as they hold no features other than a more or less invisible runway. When I load an FSX afcad into AFX and there are components that are not FS9 compatible it tells you that they will be ignored. If you are in any doubt you can always load it into a util and save it to an F...

Re: Dans bits & bobs

Using 3.3.2.3, but similar happened with 3.2.22.3 Definitely something screwy... Re-ran on a fresh download of the file and it is error free. The first time I ran it, it definitely produced the error list. When I was error fixing, I'd re-validate after each fix and it produced the new error list wi...

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon

A small thing that I noticed with the Waypoints that John added above. For some reason I was checking something in AFX and found that two of the afcads didn't appear. Further checking revealed the cause. EYC2 actually had the Airport ID of EYS1 allocated to it and EYC3 actually had EYS2 allocated to...

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon

The following ICAOs are used in the German and RAF FPs. I can't find them on my system, can anyone help me out please? EER1, EER2, ETC1, EYC1, EYC2, EYC3 X3UL Jim Just discovered... In the German pack several airframes are not used, is this intended or have I got it wrong again  They are TLG ...

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon

The ICAO X3UL is the current designation for Sculthorpe, which used to be EGUP back in my day. Now Sculthorpe is used in the Chinooks pack under the guise of UKSC. So you could either amend the plans to use UKSC or you could amend the afcad for UKSC to X3UL. This of course would mean altering the Ch...

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon

To answer this question it is the same as with ANY model AI or not. Use this principle every time. Using any text compare software check to see if there are any differences between the two IGNORING the fltsim entries. If there are none you can combine. If there are small insignificances such as extr...

Re: A-10 textures all black at KDMA

It sounds plausible. I did read that anything over 1024 was reset when a change was made.

*EDIT*
I just discovered something weird. Checked my fsx.cfg and the size is 4096 and the slider is full right in the game. It maybe that the Steam Edition has a different default.

Re: A-10 textures all black at KDMA

I am glad that you fixed it but what I don't is why that Texture_Max_Load should work.
The A-10 textures are 1024x1024 so they should not load with the setting at 512. The FSX default is 1024.

Re: A-10 textures all black at KDMA

I haven't heard that before but that does make sense.

However my testing with a clean fsx showed all schemes OK.

Re: A-10 textures all black at KDMA

I didn't expect it would in this case, but it will prevent issues with textures that are 2048x2048, of which quite a few are being done for FSX. OK. So if the usual suspect, DX10, does not fix it no matter what your settings is then it is difficult to say. I do know that aircraft appear black if the...

Re: Dans bits & bobs

I tried with 3.3.2.2 and the latest 3.3.2.3 and no warnings. I do get a warning when the target is set to FS9 that it was a multi-week set of plans. I had a look at the actual errors that Jim found but I did not find the first 6 warnings highlighted when i checked those legs. So something screwy som...

Re: F-35 Variants (FS9, FSX and P3Dv4)

OK, this is what I understand but somebody with better knowledge on this subject will correct me if I am wrong in any aspect. The base line is that FS9 libs will work in FSX. The only known issues are textures that involve transparency sections, as FSX operates differently in this aspect. The rule h...

Re: Yet another cock-up...

I agree about the language. Which is why I use the terminology available according to the method used. Priority is only seen in the Settings window and Layer is only seen in the scenery.cfg . You are absolutely correct in this and that is why I carefully use those terms. Personally I use the Scenery...
