Re: FSX Battle of Britain

The two key paths for me are:

C:\Program files John\FSX SDK\SDK\environment kit\bgl compiler sdk\bglcomp.exe

C:\Program files John\FSX SDK\SDK\environment kit\modeling sdk\3DSM7\Plugins\xtomdl.exe

Re: FSX Battle of Britain

That's very strange Brandon. The model is OK, the SDK is working because ADE is, you said. You've installed the latest version of MCX and you have checked the path to the SDK.

It's good that you know the process of applying a texture to the model. I can help with the detailed artwork.

Re: FSX Battle of Britain

No problem with the compilation Brandon. Accepted by MCX and output as an FSX .mdl file. Placed in ADE as a scenery object and output as a .bgl. Hey presto: https://i.imgur.com/zhYA71j.jpg It's the wrong fighter pen again - have you actually produced the Type "B" fighter pen that you said you would?...

Re: FSX Battle of Britain

Can you zip up the the .dae file that Sketchup produces (the one you load into MCX) and post it here or PM it to me please? I'll try it in my version of MCX that I know is working.

Re: FSX Battle of Britain

Why was ADE not working and could the same reason be why MCX isn't?

Have you tried installing the latest version again?

Re: no pilot in the cockpit!!

In that case, the pilot's body carries the visibility tag. The head carries the animation tag "ambient" and is linked to the body, so it disappears when the body does.

Re: FSX Battle of Britain

Same question: do you have the FSX SDK installed and does MCX point to it's location, and now, ADE too. Both programs need access to the SDK to be able to compile. Check your paths in both programs. When you installed SP2 recently, did you have any options for the SDK? ADE was working the other day ...

Re: FSX Battle of Britain

You are not making sense Brandon. To place the model in ADE you first have to compile it from the Sketchup source file. Have you compiled that model and how did you do it?

If you've made hangars before how did you compile them and get them into FSX?

Re: FSX Battle of Britain

Why do you want to turn it into a .bgl? You want to turn it into a .mdl file that you can place with ADE.

If MCX doesn't compile the model, what error does it throw up?

Post me a shot of the model.

Re: FSX Battle of Britain

It's a box - the simplest shape there is. If you can make the pens, you can make the box.

What's the problem in making a box?

Re: FSX Battle of Britain

Brandon, if you need any concrete, stone block or grass textures for the pens, I have plenty, including a shed with a green door. Just ask. Alternatively, if you didn't know about this resource, you will find it very useful: https://www.textures.com/ You need to register. The very high resolution te...

Nope, wrong type. You didn't read what I said.

Re: FSX Battle of Britain

Jolly good. So, when you make the fighter pens, be aware that they are FCW4513 Type B, not the usual type E. You will find some plans on the net. Middle Wallop seems to have had 6 of the large type (54ft max width) on the NW dispersal and 6 of the smaller ones (76ft) on the SE dispersal. You could a...

Re: FSX Battle of Britain

Thanks Brandon. How familiar are you with Sketchup? What have you produced and compiled so far? AFCAD2 will work with FSX. TTools won't directly. It's the manual in the latter that I wanted you to read. Will you be answering my 1st and 3rd question? The 3rd question relates to placing objects with A...

Re: FSX Battle of Britain

Right Brandon, I don’t know if I can survive this, but we’ll see. This is your project, so what I am going to suggest to you is only that, I’m not going to tell you what you must do, but if you are prepared to listen to me and to others here, you might end up with something usable. We need first to ...

Re: FSX Battle of Britain

I can't tell you want to design Brandon. If I did that you wouldn't own the project. I can only facilitate you into reaching a goal, but if I don't know what the goal is and it keeps changing anyway, I can't help you to get there. You are also making life more difficult than it needs to be by not us...
