Re: F-35 Variants (FS9, FSX and P3Dv4)
Because people will ask for the external load and it's better to plan ahead for that and incorporate it on the texture sheet. The load-out will be an alternative model from the clean one, so there's no compulsion to use it.

Re: F-35 Variants (FS9, FSX and P3Dv4)
I slice planes and then extrude downwards rather than using Booleans if I can Foxbat, but sometimes the shape, like the serrated edges on some doors on the F-35 make that more difficult than using a Boolean shape to cut out. Booleans just need a lot of work to re-align and weld vertices or the mesh ...

Re: F-35 Variants (FS9, FSX and P3Dv4)
Many thanks for your kind comments everyone. I'm glad Steve suggested this project - it certainly seems popular. I've now managed to get the right animation triggers in place to move all the F-35B parts in the appropriate stages of flight. These mainly use the strobe light to open all the doors and ...

F-35 Variants (FS9, FSX and P3Dv4)
Following on from the F-35 discussions in the "Thoughts on the next project" thread, I can now post an update of the design so far. I decided to start with the F-35B, because it’s the most complex of the 3 variants. The basic shape was a little tricky to achieve with smooth contours in the...

Two options I can think of. Try the FDE from my AI Hunter, if you haven't done that already. Repaint my Hunter in Belgian colours.

Re: A-10 Thunderbolt II
I've just checked my installation Andy. At 07.52 (local) on the 23 July 2017, I see 4 of them sitting on the ramp on the other side of the runway from the A-10s. I assume these are the ones you are looking for.

Re: How to convert MAIW packages to FSX/P3D?
That would puzzle me too Pete. How does MCX generate the ModelDef.xml file to convert from FS9 to FSX when it doesn't know the custom xml code needed for the FSX model? Sometimes a different code block is needed to that used in FS9 and of course the expression of all the code used needs to be in FSX...

Re: Watching helicopters
You can't see the helicopters with an animated lift built into the model in a traffic view window after they have lifted off, because the model is 50 -100ft above the centre of the view point at that time. It's just a downside of having the vertical lift. Try zooming right out, or you can follow the...

Re: A-10 Thunderbolt II
You're right about the number of weapon variations. The one I selected for the A-10C "Combat" model, like the photo in the link, also has the JDAM on the centre line with a mix of stores on the other pylons.

Re: What military scenery works in P3D v4?
FSX versions of: RAF Marham, Bentwaters/Woodbridge (Twins), Waddington, Wattisham, Duxford, Coningsby, Upper Heyford, Cranwell, Leuchars and Mona from me and my colleagues at ACG (as was) should all work in P3Dv4. Use the FSX versions of the AI that goes with them. You can get many FS9 sceneries to ...

Re: Thoughts on the next project
The F-35 nozzle animation was actually easier than I thought, although I could not have worked it out without studying the real thing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWxaFHLl6kE After a couple of hours playing with it, I managed to reproduce the motion in a Gmax experiment. Looks good too with the ...

Re: Thoughts on the next project
At the moment I'm concentrating on F-35A, B and C research as the potential next project. C-130 or C-17 projects are not under consideration at this point. Hartwig has kindly sent me a large amount of F-35 information that is most useful. It includes a video of how the F-35B nozzle works for real. I...

Thoughts on the next project
I’ve had a suggestion from a Staff Member about a project that I think would prove popular. It’s to model the 3 variants of the F-35 Lightning II for FS9, FSX and P3Dv4. Mark (Fishlips) and Kevin (Weescotty) produced the current FS9 F-35A, but Mark is no longer working on the scene to take it furthe...

Re: MAIW Southwest ANG
Double check every traffic file in FSX with an AIFP scan. You might also need to enlarge the diameter of the parking spots and also add anti-pushback nodes to the centres while you are doing it.
