Re: MAIW Scenery Library Objects not appearing in P3Dv2.4
Major update to this thread -- just so everyone knows, I reached out to John Stinstrom back in April (2015), and he provided all his original files -- models and textures, etc. -- for these libraries: Military Airbase Objects (also we know it as MAIW ABO) Cargo Mil JGSE All but 3, maybe 4 objects in...

Re: AI BlackHawk
Somewhere there is a handy bat file called DDS Converter, and this is what I use to convert textures from .bmp to .dds for FSX/P3D. Works great.

I'm not qualified to critique your work, but I hope to be among your first consumers.
Woogey and I are working hard on Fort Lewis Gray AAF -- we already got parking reserved for your Blackhawks.

Re: AI BlackHawk
I understand where you're coming from Ripcord. However: 1. There's no way to suspend the FDE, which is responsible for the forward speed (cruise speed), for 10 minutes while the sonar lowers and takes a dip. 2. I can't do it in the xml lift animation either, because the aircraft is under FDE contro...

Re: AI BlackHawk
That's not possible. Would you prefer me to delete the sonar then? John I hate to be that harsh, John. I love it, but I am trying to understand how this animation can be used in an appropriate situation. Is there a way for the helo to fly really really slow from one water landing point to another? ...

Re: AI BlackHawk
The Navy birds are all done for FS9 and FSX. This is the "R" model again, but with a Mk54 torpedo instead of the Hellfires. It also has a dipping sonar: http://i588.photobucket.com/albums/ss323/Bitmap512/Pave%20Hawk/R4_zps86b88434.jpg The cable on the sonar runs right up through the insid...

Re: AI BlackHawk
I think the much greater effort isn't worth it for the tiny number of people who might end up seeing one of the Romeos depart through the top of a ship. Completely Agree. And this is only in FS9 with a static ship anyway. You aren't going to be getting scheduled AI traffic to come and go from movin...

Re: Military Ships & Ports
Now this is a project I can get excited about. I am able to program ship traffic, to follow KMZ files that you make in google earth. I can show you. It is a bit hard to make them follow in formation if they are going any distance at all, but it is not that hard to do. Maybe some photoreal coverage t...

Re: KGRF Grey AAF at Fort Lewis
Click has already sent me some good intel by PM so we do have some stuff to work with. As for flight planning, we think we have a semi-reasonable handle on it - a lot of back and forth to Vagabond AAF over in Yakima, plus Pacemaker and some occassion visits to local muni fields around in the area (m...

Re: KGRF Grey AAF at Fort Lewis
Chris Would you be interested in helping us with the AI portion of our project -- if not the paint jobs, then helping us come up with the reg numbers, units, and overall OOB? If this was Navy or Marine Corp I'd have a better handle on it. Even USAF I'd get close. Army Aviation is a bit foreign to me...

Re: KGRF Grey AAF at Fort Lewis
I think for now we have enough evidence to just stay with the 'traditional' AI model for our initial release. We might decide to experiment further with it as well go and see what we are able to come up with.

I would say this answers all my questions regarding use of the main runway.

So I guess 1st Battalion, 229th Aviation Regiment been relocated from Fort Hood to Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

Re: KGRF Grey AAF at Fort Lewis
Thank you sir... I might just try it like that, adding a short runway somewhere and see how the AI behaves.
Looks like Kanoya does have two runways in real life, one long and one short, so that was pretty straightforward.

Re: KGRF Grey AAF at Fort Lewis
It would be exceeding cool to recreate something like this, with AI, would it not? http://usarmy.vo.llnwd.net/e2/-images/2009/11/03/54941/army.mil-54941-2009-11-03-161116.jpg I guess that would not be possible without having a separate AFCAD and traffic file for each helo taking off. That effect mig...
