Re: Matrix Installer or install on P3Dv4
Use Lorby's Addon Organiser to install stuff to P3D. It achieves much the same as Matrix did.

Re: JYAI Gloster Meteors
For a certain value of 'fascinating' - there are other words - it's hopefully of some interest! Actually, if you're going to develop airfields for the 1946-59 period, the real airfield codes are perhaps a bit more useful than the various invented ones which Terry and others used. The Airfield Resear...

Re: JYAI Gloster Meteors
In the period we're interested in here (to 1959-ish), it was MAXK. The current ICAO code system arrived around 1960, when for the last three years of its existence as an airfield it adopted EGUK

Re: JYAI Gloster Meteors
There is a Terry Boissel scenery for Waterbeach in FSX, which largely uses Ted Andrews scenery objects. It's available on most of the regular download sites. Unfortunately, the site was mined (for gravel, I think) in the '90s and early 00s, and the resulting lakes are certainly in Orbx scenery and w...

Re: runway edge light effect
It may be possible in ADE by overlaying a narrow runway on top of a wide runway with the desired lighting, however that might result in undesirable tyre markings on the underlying runway. It is possible to change the default drawing layers in Raw Data View, which may allow an apron to overlay a runw...

Re: Scenery Libraries
That's good news, Steve. I've got it all squirrelled away for myself, but as I'm not particularly concerned about representing only what's in service right now, my live installation (of Matrix) contains basically everything I have that isn't payware. The purists would be appalled at the strange mix ...

Re: Scenery Libraries
It'll shortly be moot as Greg will remove Matrix from the Hangar, but the libraries as included in it are pretty comprehensive and extremely useful. Could we substitute this collection for the separate one in the Hangar? Obviously it's been converted to P3D compatibility, but as almost all the model...

Re: Scenery Libraries
Ah, ok - I think I made the assumption that the MAIW Global Libraries in Matrix were the same as the ones available separately in the Download Hangar.

Re: Scenery Libraries
Atsugi and Beaufort are both in the MAIW Scenery Library Pack (available here on this very website). In that pack is a whole load of stuff that helps populate any airfields in the MAIW Download Hangar. Separate packs for FS9 and FSX/P3D, plus the associated thumbnails to visualise each item in ADE.

Re: Scenery Library Help Request
Make sure your installation of Orbx puts all their sceneries below your MAIW sceneries. You need to go into Orbx Central (Settings/Insertion Point) to tell Orbx where you want them to be. Check that you don't have multiple examples of any given airport - the easiest way is to simply search for the I...

Re: A brand new MS Flight Simulator is coming...
Damn. MSFS (as well as FSX:SE) is crashing on start up. I don't look at it often, but I wanted to pick up Update 6. Not sure I'll bother, tbh. I can get my fix of nice views of an unmoving but pretty world in Google Earth Pro, and stick with P3D for watching aircraft go by!

Re: NFL Flypast
I missed seeing them, but I certainly heard them as they flew over my office on the rehearsal. I was a bit disappointed that the BBC TV cameras didn't even elevate to see where the noise was coming from as the actual flypast took place.

Re: JYAI KC-10A
I've just tried it in P3Dv5.2 (with a full Orbx/UTL2 and Global Traffic installation) and - after I'd sorted out how to get my X52 throttle working as I don't actually fly in-sim very often! - the MAIW KWRI worked just fine. I can't try it in FSX just now as for some reason FSX:SE is crashing on sta...

Re: JYAI Gloster Meteors
Tim, by all means see if you can create a retro ETNA from what you have, thanks. That would certainly ease the scenery load on me. The current Google Earth image is interesting. The whole airfield is covered in solar panels, but the HAS's remain. John OK, I'm on it John. The airfield was actually q...

Re: JYAI Gloster Meteors
The airfield doesn't exist in FS9 It does! There is an ETNA AFCAD in the Alconbury 1990 package by Brian Clarke & Daryl Payne. It's roughly as the airfield was after the USAF rebuild in the 1970s, so not exactly as per the 1950s RAF layout (though, other than the HAS dispersals and the layout a...

Re: Duxford Freeware for MSFS found on flightsim.to
That's rather good, and is right up to date. While the ACG scenery is excellent, it would need a great deal of work to bring it up to this standard I think.

Re: JYAI Gloster Meteors
I remember discussing this a while back, and I thought you might be tempted! My old man flew most marks of Meatbox, and it will be great to recreate something from that time in his career - you've already given us the Lightnings that he flew for most of his 37 years in the RAF.
Thanks John!
Thanks John!

Re: JYAI Boeing KC-46A’s
Strictly speaking, it's not 'can' but 'must'. Even in UK, on first contact. It's not really observed outside the USA, but it is in the roolz.
