Re: A brand new MS Flight Simulator is coming...
Has anyone experimented with bringing any of the MAIW scenery to MSFS? Even without the planes it would be nice to have the bases to fly out of in the meantime. I have been busy the last couple of weeks finishing the P3D Coningsby for Johns Typhoon but also converting the scenery to Fs2020. Here is...

Re: A brand new MS Flight Simulator is coming...
I agree with you. I have been on the P3D bus for quite a while, and have (or rather - did have*) parallel v4 and v5 installations, as well as MSFS2020 (or FS20 as I prefer). FS20 is undoubtedly very nice to look at. The recent improvements to Japan and the US (UK is next for a spruce-up in January) ...

Yeah, I'm afraid so, Steve. I have to say I was extremely disappointed when I saw that list.

Re: A brand new MS Flight Simulator is coming...
Good to know that you've given it a go, Tuskin. You don't have to go back too far in this thread to see more info about MSFS behaviour with lots of AI plans active. As you'll discover as you look through this site, it's not unusual for one aircraft to have hundreds of different subtypes and liveries...

Re: A brand new MS Flight Simulator is coming...
The biggest issue currently is that at about 50 AI aircraft active, the sim will crash. Secondly, installing multiple liveries of AI aircraft is not a trivial exercise; indeed, I've not seen it achieved yet. Flight plans are similar to FSX, and it's possible to import converted FSX aircaft into MSFS...

Re: A brand new MS Flight Simulator is coming...
It's of course possible that the clever guys over at AIG will be able to reverse-engineer the existing AI engine to the point where some custom AI will be possible. But they're not there yet, and there are already (as mentioned in this thread) some obstacles that appear at present to be insurmountab...

Re: A brand new MS Flight Simulator is coming...
Thanks for the info. It is nice to see that some of the AI features are getting sorted. Asobo have released a development timeline, showing roughly when they expect to introduce new features or address identified problems. AI is pretty much at the bottom of the list, with no defined year (years are...

Re: FSX AFCAD for RAF Honington
The payware UK2000 VFR series includes Honington, but it's more or less as it appears now as the RAF Regt. depot, with new accommodation blocks on the airfield.
It's fairly straightforward to convert the UKMil/JY Honington scenery to FSX using ADE and MCX (for your own use only).

Re: RAF Phenom/ Texan
Frankly, I'm surprised they're in RAF markings at all! They don't belong to the RAF, they're not operated by the RAF, and I'm pretty sure the RAF would really rather do away with the whole MFTS disaster.
But that's another topic, I guess!

Re: A brand new MS Flight Simulator is coming...
For something a little closer to progress, we also have the arrival of P3Dv5.1 and its rather more complete SDK!

Re: A brand new MS Flight Simulator is coming...
SDK 0.7.0 is out. No significant changes from an AI perspective. There have been no changes to the documentation since 0.5.0, so it's a bit difficult to tell what's changed. There are some changes to the animated sample files. Apparently, jetways now work.
Re: MSFS2020
I totally agree, Steve. I think a year may even be a conservative guess to cure that bug. On my set up (P3Dv4), with Ultimate Traffic Live, some AIG stuff and pretty much everything MAIW's done, plus some UkMil and ACG, and Orbx traffic as well, it's not unusual to see 3-500 AI aircraft being genera...

I couldn't investigate further, Steve, as I'm on a Mac at the moment. There are some interesting aircraft there!

Re: BAC 1-11 Repaint
I think most of the Dee Waldron models are available on Henry's site at http://htai-models.com/downloads/dwai/f ... index.html The BAC 111 available there appears to be version 3.

Eventually, of course. But Asobo are giving no clues as to when they will be introduced to the sim.

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon
Totally understand about FS9, John. While it won’t be what the hard-core FS9-ers want to hear, there is a huge back-catalogue of stuff for them to enjoy as long as they wish, and perhaps a cottage industry will develop in reverse-engineering FSX/P3D models and scenery for FS9! It’s interesting that ...

Re: A brand new MS Flight Simulator is coming...
It does appear that for now there is a hard limit to how many live AI flight plan sectors the sim can cope with before a CTD. But of course the SDK for AI is not available as yet, so the nuts and bolts are speculation only. From what's been reported, I suspect that Asobo will be able to get to the b...

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon
This is the search result for FS9 EGYP Mount Pleasant at Avsim. As you can see, there are two AFCAD-only sceneries, one of which refers to a scenery "s_atlcv2.zip", which at one time was available on Flightsim.com (it isn't now) and which provided the buildings to go with the bare AFCAD m...
