I'm looking for serial numbers for the FB-111As and KC-135s that were stationed at Plattsburg AFB circa 1989 with the 380th Bomb Wing.

Fantastic! I watched these at the old Plattsburgh AFB (KPBG) from both the ground and air many times. Back in the day when I was flying from Burlington IAP to the old Clinton County AP located to the west of KPBG their military tower would allow me to fly over at 3000' and perpendicular to the center of runway 17/35. I did this many times and always enjoyed the FB-111 and KC-135 flight operations occurring below.

BTW...Two FB-111A's from KPBG crashed in Vermont.

On 6-7-1976 tail number 69-6511 crashed in New Haven, VT after the pilots were able to eject safely in their ejection capsule.

Then on 2-2-1989 tail number 68-0243 flying as Heat 22 crashed in Kirby, VT after these pilots also ejected safely. (see photo of their ejection capsule below)

    Matt D.,

Please don't scrap your work. I've been waiting as patiently as possible for your Plattsburgh AFB package and it would be a real shame for we northeasterners not to benefit from all your hard work. :(

I agree with Mike and Mike . I too ,as ya knew ,was doing PBG ,complete with custom hangers . VERY much a WIP and very much on hold but I considered it a learning experience . Also made a great USAF contact who I mined for SAC hanger engineering drawings .
I'd like to add to the request that you do publish/ make available your KPBG AFB
      Cheers

Matt the paints are for 1982 not 1989

In 1989 the FB-111's were in darker colours and some of the tankers are in the shark colours.

Don't stop what you are doing mate..

The more poeple doing stuff the better..

      Matt,
I lived across the lake in Vermont, used to see just about everything flying out of Plattsburgh. Right now I live about 10 minutes from the old base, and I would love to see what you have accomplished. I tried doing it myself , but just couldn't pull it off. With all the new stuff f-111 and B-52's it would be quite impressive.

I grew up in the lake (okay the Islands) and remember the Plattsburgh AFB FB-111 and KC-135's well. I look forward to the possible release of your package.

      Hi Matt.

Don't get disheartened and scrap your work. This hobby needs everything we can get. This has been a great year with all sorts of releases so please upload your work.

Always a bummer when someone pips us to the post but its all the time and effort that goes into researching and producing a project. That must not go to waste or consigned to the bin .

From reading the comments before me reiterate my thoughts.

Well done for producing such work. Not all of us can do what painters achieve so hang in there and don't get disheartened.

There will be plenty of us looking forward to your projects release.

All we now need is your upload Matt.

      Brian

Guys, thanks for the encouraging words. I seem to have over-reacted and am sorry about that. The package is almost done, however before I take the scaffolding down from the scenery I need to replace some hangars. I recently found out that I built one of the types wrong with doors almost 20' too high. The new hangars are more to scale and have even more detail (with over 80 less polys). A screenie will be up within the next 24-48 hours.

All of the FB-111s and all of the tankers have been represented as of 1989. I took some artistic license with the Shamu scheme since there was no exacting evidence of which aircraft carried the new schemes and which still wore the SAC scheme. I did find a photo with about 4 or 5 with the new scheme so I used that as a base. In total 57 aircraft are represented in the Wing, most of the FB-111s all have their applied nose art (those that I could find, 2 or 3 do no have nose art).
