RAF VC10 retirement put back

Post by shaggy22 »

Taken from Britmodeller ;

"Due to delays in deliveries of the A330 Voyager, the RAF has put the out of service date for 101 Sqn's six remaining VC-10s back until the end of September (6 months stay of execution from the previously annoinced OSD of March 2013). It is also very pleasing to note that Air Command has evidently informed the RIAT organisers that they plan to have a VC10 available for the flying at the Air Tattoo next Summer. I quote from RIAT website:

The RAF's Air Command said it hoped to send a flying VC-10 transport aircraft and TriStar air-to-air tanker plus a C-17, A330 'Voyager' and C-130J/K Hercules for either the flying display or static park."

Always had a soft spot for the viccy 10, be great too photograph it one last time in the summer :D

"Cluster bombing from B-52s are very, very accurate. The bombs are guaranteed to always hit the ground"
