Mike Pearson VC-10

Post by bismarck »

Hi all, I downloaded the UK VC-10 repainted by Mike Pearson from AVSIM (jbs_vc10_raf.zip). This is a complete AC, not only repaints, and it CTD my FS9 when watched.
Already try to reinstall and to re-save textures in DXT3. Don't know how to add an alpha channel but it is probably already present.

Is there someone with the same problem or someone that has sorted it out?

Thanks, Giorgio

It doesn't happen every time, but the CTD (according to ProcessMonitor) is not a texture but actually appears to be happening in the model itself.

I had the same problem with the package. I brute force fixed it by editing the Aircraft_MIL_RAF 101 Sq VC-10 file so that all the flightplans used "Aircraft_MIL_RAF 101 Sq VC-10". No more CTDs now. Downside, all the planes are the same. Oh well.

hmm, interesting.

I use to old ukmil-ai package for my vc-10s and I think they use the same model, but I don't get any problems on that front...

That's odd. There were reports on the AIG of this VC10 causing crashes. I've done a full suite of checks and not having either of those sets in my sim means no CTDs. I've gone back to the Dave Maltby model, which lacks of the bells and whistles and is a bit frame rate heavy, but being as there only the RAF VC10s flying around, I can live with...

Could you be more specific?
Which model do you use? And wich texture?

Thanks in advance, Giorgio

I didn't change the models or textures. I just changed which title it was calling and recompiled the traffic.bgl.

SOLVED!!

The problem with JBAI VC10 was the same with RATS IL76 of the Algerian AF and others..., with the parking entries on the aircraft configuration files.

I changed them to:

atc_parking_types=MIL_CARGO
atc_parking_codes=M003

And then, no more CTD crashes (for now).

You sir are a bloody genius! It was the ,L1011 in the parking codes that knackered it. Nice one mate.

Were there flight plans assocaited with the VC-10's? Or am I confusing them with the L-1011's?

Thanks.

jbs_vc10_raf.zip at avsim. It's a full package with model and flightplans.

I d/l'd a scenery from Avsim for Brize Norton to handle the VC-10's but I could not find a matching AFCAD.
The scenery did not have one with it and the ones I found did not match up too well with the scenery.
I'm open to suggestions . . . . other scenery available maybe?

Joe

EDIT: I just found the 2006 version over on Flightsim. Think it's the answer.

A five character parking code could cause a CTD.
