Night textures
Night textures
I just wondered when you apply textures you have the normal texture and there is a _LM after the texture which tells you it's the night texture, do you have to apply the _LM when building the object in fsds or does it do it automatically when there is the texture with the _LM on the end?

Re: Night textures
Dale you don't have to apply the LM texture but you do have to define that parent texture and it's light map as having such.
This first image is the texture list from your project. When you want to add a LM texture to your object, make sure you have already added that texture to your local folder where your primary texture is located. Open the texture list and click on the primary texure.
With it highlighted then click "Edit" and that will bring up that texture's properties GUI:
Check the "Night" check box, which will add a ",N" to the end of your texture's name in the texture menu. This tells FSDS/MakeMdl that this object uses a night texture. It will take the texture definitions from your main texture and apply those same definitions to your object starting at dusk through night and dawn using the "_LM" version of your texture instead.
Pretty straight forward although the FSDS help menu doesn't make it very clear how this process works.

Re: Night textures
Don't forget that you can preview the night texture on your object by going to View|Properties.
