Below are some screenshots of an AI diamond formation takeoff by four VT ANG F-102A's circa 1970.
Enjoy.

That's awesome Mike. I remember when we thought that 3 was the max so you've done well to arrange this. How long has this taken you to figure out?

Mike,
Remember Nick was away when the Sixth Anniversary package came out!

Thanks Guys,
I wish I could take full credit for creating this AI diamond formation takeoff completely from scratch, but I can't.
I actually used a neat little freeware utility by Jerry Beckwith named Formation Flight Toys for FSX available at his Mudpond Software website.
http://mudpond.org/
This simple to use freeware utility allows you to easily create diamond, box and inline formation takeoffs of up to four aircraft in FSX. Unfortunately it only works with installed user flyable fixed-wing aircraft and I had to tweak some of their FDE's to eliminate bad cases of the jitters during their flights.
Jerry has also released a more advanced payware version through Flight 1 named Air Traffic FX and I was testing the freeware version to see if the payware version might be something I might want.

Yes, Nick probably hasn't seen the MAIW Sixth Anniversary AI Airshow yet. The animations that you created and the formations that both you and others created were awesome as seen in Bismarcks post in the Screenshots forum at the following link:

Nick will probably be surprised to see some of his own formations put to such good use.

The 6th Anniversary package was spell bounding. Amazing show, get the pop corn and sit and watch. Probably will never see an AI model do a full loop again just brilliant.

With the way that Kev is designing fantastic xml code, it would not surprise me if the next AI doing a full loop also contains a box barrel roll.
I really enjoyed working on those formation models, great fun!
Mike made them all come together to produce a stunning show in the simulator, I've never seen anything like it before.
cheer's,
