I'll add I saw something similar on one of the C-130 conversions I did in MCX. 1st one looked fine, did the exact same process with DXTBMP and had a large lit area on the cabin. I have not had a chance to see these at night in the sim.

Yep it has the light splashes under the wings. I've tried other aircraft in MCX at night with the same results.
And as FSRepaint is for FS9 it may be that it doesn't read FSX night textures. With FS9 textures it shows nights properly.

I'll do up a quick night flight plan and see what it looks like in the sim. (After waiting and waiting for FSX to load)
Then I'll upload.

All right ! I made a flight plan and caught the WP-3D at McDill and KEYW at night. The nite textures displayed properly.
I adjusted my night texture to lighten the windows a bit and it looks good.

I tried MCX night texture mode with many aircraft and it seems that is the way it is.
Likewise FSRepaint v2. It will work with most native FSX aircraft but does not display the night textures correctly.

If one wants to verify night textures in FSX it appears you will have to do it in the simulator.

I will package up all nine of the NOAA aircraft with flight plans for both FS9 and FSX and have them uploaded very shortly.

Finally managed to have a try at installing these today and the package seems to be missing the "no_weapon_pylons" model for the P-3C. Or am I overlooking something?

Hi Greg
It is entirely possible - I thought I got all the models but they kept popping out of the woodwork.

I think I've found why you probably missed it: the "no_weapon_pylons" folder in the Florida Orions package contains "JAI_P-3C_USN.mdl" which has the same file name as the normal model. Whether they are actually different I can't tell right now.

To add to the confusion: the "no_weapon_pylons" folder in the Portuguese Air Force package contains "JAI_CP-140_AURORA.mdl"...

It may be that we have bungled something up when creating the packs and until now nobody noticed...

Ok, let me check the Florida Orions pack (I don't use it myself) and see what I can see.

Hi Greg,
I extracted the Florida Orions pack and took a look. Although the folder is called "model_no_weapons_pylon" the model within it is the standard model without Harpoons (but with weapons pylons). You can use the base PC-3 model.

True No Pylon model for FSX / P3D

Post by gavinc »

I took the original model that had the pylons but not the missiles & managed to delete the pylons in MCX (thank you again Arno).
Then redid the conversion to FSX. Did a quick check in FSX and seems to work but haven't had time to test in P3D.
Uses the existing textures from the conversion pack.

I can't seem to embed it in the message but you can download the model from here

Thanks for taking a look! And wow I didn't expect you to go beyond the call of duty when the 2 models appeared to be the same. I'll check the file in P3Dv4 tomorrow. Thanks again.

Greg - If the no pylon model works in P3D would you be able to update the package here in the library to include it or should I re-upload a new version?

Thanks

Hey Gavin,

The pylons are gone indeed up close, but reappear in the lower LODs.

Ok - Thats what I get for rushing. Let me go back and try to do it properly. Hopefully I will have time this weekend.

Just uploaded a package containing the FSX P-3s.
I think we got the whole set (P-3C Orion, EP-3E Aries, CP-140 Aurora, P-3B AEW, P-3B LRT & civilian fire bomber).

As with the C-130s you need to update the texture alpha to enjoy the cabin lights and landing light wing splash.

thanks

Hi! Thank you for a great job, but where to download? Are there any other converted models suitable for P3Dv4? Thank's for help in advance.

Hi,
New no pylon version - now with the pylons removed from all LODs (I hope).

Can be downloaded from here. https://1drv.ms/u/s!AmOrUMU7XnTMhArxqET2-ZpnWOYK

Greg, it looked good on my system, if it looks good on yours please go ahead and update the P-3 package
