Thank you asdro.

Very nice. Definitely an "E" ticket ride onto and off the deck of a carrier.John Young wrote: ↑27 Mar 2020, 17:43 The Greyhound that I thought would be straight forward, was far from it. However, I think I've got there:
These are two examples from VAW-120 and there are a further four more from that Squadron that I'll number up next. I'll also check around to see if there are any others I particularly want to paint. If not, I'll press on with putting the Hawkeyes and Greyhounds into scenery and making flight plans.

Done that, got a "good deal" early trip home off the boat. Nose gear would not retract, so the crew flew her home slow. Quite the difference from the cat shot.

Re: E-2 Hawkeye and C-2 Greyhound
These are the final aircraft - 6 C-2's of VAW=120 and 6 more of VRC-40:
That makes 56 E-2's and 12 C-2's for the packages.
My thanks to Steve for revamping the FDE.
I've tested all the scenery that will be associated with the models. The only real gap is Naha for the Japanese, but Misawa is good for the bulk of them.
Next job is to produce the flight plans for Norfolk and Point Mugu while Steve is working on the "Wet" FDE. After that comes the documentation and packaging.

Brilliant as usual John!
May I ask if these and other recent packages will be incorporated into Matrix? I'm kind of impatient, but wouldn't want to make a mess of my MAIW folders if Matrix is about to come along soon after.

Sorry Jim, but not for a while. I'd love nothing more but I'm involved in too many other things right now.

No problem Greg,

The VRM Wing at Pax River has posted some cool pictures of the Greyhound flying with the new CMV-22:

Re: E-2 Hawkeye and C-2 Greyhound
Just a quick update for the moment.
Steve and I have been busy refining the flight dynamics after discovering a problem with 36 E-2's and C-2's all departing together (to test the parking) at NAS Norfolk. It had the effect of dropping the frame rate below 20 fps in FSX and that caused the aircraft to bounce and flip at 4X speed - a clear sign that the aircraft were unstable. That was traced to the compression values in the contact points and having replaced those, everything is now stable right down to 10 fps at 4 x speed.
The other issue was with the Greyhound. Because of the low fuselage, the scrape bumper near the arrestor hook was catching the runway during rotation in the take-off run. I'm not sure we can totally eradicate that but it's only a momentarily occurrence.
Steve has also produced the "wet" FDE to enable the E-2's and C-2's to operate from carriers in FS9 and FSX/P3Dv4. I have these working in all 3 sims but the take-off run could usefully be shortened so the rotation occurs closer to the bow of the ships. Deck landing is fine. I'll post some screen shots when we have the final FDE in place.
With all the aircraft painted, the scenery all checked and the FDE in hand, I'm now flight planning the aircraft at NAS Norfolk and Point Mugu. Once that's done and the FDE checked again, I can move on to documentation and packaging.

Re: E-2 Hawkeye and C-2 Greyhound
Just finished the last of the flight plans. What I could ideally do with is a call sign for the 3 French Navy Flottille 4F E-2C's. I've searched without success. Can anyone help please?

Hello John,
Sometimes they use "French Navy", and the squadron callsign is "DAMO"
Many thanks for this again and for all your fantastic work!

French Navy would probably be used for transit type flying, Damo would be a tactical/operational callsignJonjon wrote:Hello John,

They look amazing John, always wanted the C/E-2 in sim as AI. Cant wait to get em installed so I can park up and watch them fly around for a few hrs.
I have the Hazy Grey AI models and will see if they can fly off the carries included in the package.

Re: E-2 Hawkeye and C-2 Greyhound
We're nearly there.
Steve has done a great job with the carrier "wet" FDE. These are the results in FS9 and FSX working in conjunction with my F-35B's:
All the modelling, painting, scenery and flight plans are complete for all 3 sim versions and everything is documented, zipped up and ready to go. I'm just waiting on the final "dry" FDE from Steve to re-test and drop into the zips once finalised. He is applying the climb performance developed for the "wet" FDE to the "dry" one. It's a time consuming and tedious process, done in small steps, because it takes 10 minutes each time to test the landing while the aircraft completes a circuit.
While Steve works to finalise the FDE, I'm happily into C-130 W2 "Snoopy" as a little fill in project.
