Nimrod AI project for P3D (and FSX)
Re: Nimrod AI project for P3D (and FSX)
Nimrod R1 model test in P3Dv5.1. In the early days they were based at RAF Wyton and looked much cleaner with only a fraction of the antennas which they carried at the end of their service life.

Yes indeed, that's a very good job Henk.
Just out of interest and nothing wrong with what you have, but how do the nosewheel doors work on the Nimrod. I've looked at a few photos and drawings and I can't immediately figure it out.

The doors moved upwards into the nosewheel bay, that's why you don't see anything obvious. We used to get the occasional problem where the nosewheel would get out of sequence with the doors and get stuck up, requiring the foam runway.John Young wrote:Yes indeed, that's a very good job Henk.

The nose gear doors on the model work like Jim says. Before the nose gear starts to drop, the doors rotate upwards between keyframe 0 - 10. Each main gear has a smaller door which moves with the gear and a big door which opens between keyframe 0 - 20 and closes again between keyframe 80 - 100 when the gear is fully dropped.

Thanks Henk. So it sounds like the doors rotate around the inner surface of the fuselage well.

Got it. Hinged along the bottom, but folding inwards.

Textures are done, including some special paints like these from the 1990's:
Edit: I currently have 15 different models and 84 textures which covers most configurations used between 1970 - 2010. Next on my to do list are basic flight plans, afcads and documentation.

Was the CXX one supposed to be this repaint.
Some pics make it look blackish, but it was quite a definite green.

Jim, thanks for your feedback - indeed on the picture I used it seemed black... I will update that 120 Sqn texture.

These look really good Henk. The Nimrod is a complex aircraft, well done on producing a really outstanding model.
