Re: AI Aircraft Editor Version 4.2.1 released

Important Note to all users of a Windows Version below Windows 10.

I have been using a function call that is only supported as of Windows 10. In consequence AIAE is crashing before the interface is loaded on earlier versions.

Please update to Version 4.2.2 if this affects you. You must re-download the installer because for obvious reasons the internal update will not work.

The installer at The Owl's Nest and at MAIW have been updated.

I apologize for this inconvenience!
Cheers,
Martin

FYI, when I started Version 3, it indicated an update to Version 4 was available. When I selected update, Norton Internet Security flagged the .exe as a security risk and blocked the update. With a couple of adjustments to NIS I was able to get the software to update and working. Just wanted to make you aware.

Thank you, Paul. A good tip for all NIS users.

Anti Virus software should operate like “better safe than sorry”. Nothing I can do here.

Martin

Is there a way to cycle back to the main page from external model viewer page?

I have to restart the editor.

The older versions had two pages open. Is this a fault or intentional?

What do you mean with cycle back?

If you want to close the viewer window, just click again on the viewer button.

Or you select another aircraft in the tree and leave the external viewer open.

I deliberately introduced a gap in the numbering of the [fltsim] entries in aircraft.cfg.

Up front, AIAE does not show this, but when I press the button "Show Aircrfaft Errors", it tells me the entries are not in sequence and to consider renumbering. On renumbering, I am now being told correctly that the entries have been renumbered.

I do not know if such a renumbering error is critical or not, if it is can we then have the AC Status field turn red?

Also, is there a way to force the aircraft type in the .air file into "something" (flyable, helicopter, AI or unknown)when the developer has left this field blank?

Version 4.2.2

The external viewer replaces the main page. Only external viewer visible.

The external viewer has no controls to close or minimize the window.

I have to right click on the taskbar icon to restart AIAE or close window.

You mean the main AIAE window is gone and you have only the viewer window left?

Shocking... That was not reported before ever. I will try to replicate this when I am back from work.

Could be a hard one to solve, because I have never seen this happen.

You are actively notified when you have duplicate numbers or [fltsim.x+1] entries. For the sim missing some numbers in the sequence is of no consequence, therefore I did not made it red as in serious error here. What is your view on this?

As for the type... Interesting question. I did not know that this field may be non-existent. I guess in that case the option buttons are greyed out?

Can you send me such an example, please.

Progress with v.4.2.2.0 key sort order but not quite there yet:

Key sort order as set:

title
sim
model
texture
atc_id
atc_airline
ui_type
ui_variation
description
atc_heavy
atc_parking_types
atc-parking_codes

(The other keys I do not use)

after trying a sort again on my FAIB B747-400 RR

[fltsim.0]
title=FAIB B747-400 RR Max Air 5N-HMB Albino
sim=FAIB_7474
model=RR
texture=Max Air\5N-HMB
atc_id=5N-HMB
atc_airline=MAXAIR NIGERIA
ui_manufacturer=Boeing
ui_type=B747-400 RR
ui_createdby=FAIB
description=FAIB 747-400 Max Air -- Repaint by marwol.
atc_heavy=1
atc_parking_types=GATE
atc_parking_codes=NGL
ui_variation=Max Air 5N-HMB

Just ui_variation playing up now

One other thing I forgot to mention, the backups do not want to delete
either individually or when pressing the "Delete all backups" button

Some small voice tells me I probably missed to port the code for this one over from version 3 :oops:
Let me check when I am home from work.

I have seen the notifications you mention, they work. If a number in the sequence is missing and it does not affect how the AI aircraft operate, then I am good with it.

Let's see if I can attach a screenshot...

Jorgen

Edit: this is a flyable aircraft that I use as an AI aircraft only. Some time ago, I believe I saw something similar in FAIB AI aircraft, but in the AIAE version they are fine.

And, now that we are pouring things upon poor Martin anyway, here's another screenshot.

On the right, the field titled "AI removable sections" - in the blue field it says "only valied for AI aircraft", that description would maybe be clearer if it was to say "can be removed for AI aircraft"?

That's what this thread is for, Jorgen. :-)

I will change the header and investigate the type issue. I might shy away from inserting code into an air file if that is what is needed.

It feels different than changing an existing value.

Sorry, I cannot read this clearly - what aircraft is that, Jorgen? Do I read Extra?

Yes, this is the Extra 300, sto... er, borrowed from from FSX.

It goes only on my system, for my own use.

Here's another example of the type issue, the ERJ-135 from AIG.

There is a new version in the auto update that fixes backup, the misleading title and the sorting of ui_variation.
