Although closed in 1999 by BRAC with most of the base facilities quickly demolished, Cecil Field promises to rise again as a major freight and passenger hub for the greater Jacksonville Florida area. This scenery attempts to capture the field as it would have appreared in the late 1980's while still home to venerable aircraft like the A-7 Corsair and S-3 Viking. This scenery is also available without the photoreal textures as KVQQ_NP.zip

Quick Look:
1. Cecil Field has good scenery. AFCAD is missing most taxiways required to use AI. Parking slots are there but very crowded, need to be spread out and build taxiways. (I started on a revision). No static aircraft. Buildings and layout look good. Need some AI and Static A-7s. Some hangars have Squadron insignia.
2. Willow Grove-Good buildings but some are notional. A wide variety of statics, Navy & Marine C-130s. A couple of F-22s, A P-3, and some A-10s. Layout is good and it looks good. Didn't check the AFCAD for available AI parking yet.
3. Both could use some AI Traffic.

John granted permission so here is a Working AFCAD for KVQQ. Essentially the same layout as John's with improved spacing and Taxiways to connect parking slots. Will Take AI A-7s (A conversion of K. Ito's might be possible) and AI FA-18s. Other slots are generic and will only park by wingspan size.

I worked with John Stinstrom on this scenery, providing him with pictures of Cecil Field from my nine years spent there.

A FSX version is in the works. Not by John S., but someone else.

I furnished John S. with the squadron logos he placed on Hangars 815 and 825 doors in the scenery.

In reality, the logos were NOT on the hangar doors, but located above the walk-in entrances on the parking lot sides of the hangars. But we decided it would be better served to put them on the flight line side, as they wouldn't have been seen otherwise.

I look forward to NAS Cecil Field for FSX, along with scenery planned for NATC Patuxent River, and also for NAS Agana, Guam
