Found this video clip of approaches to Kloten (Zurich Airport) Looks pretty harrowing.

MikeJG I am sure you have experienced approches like this.

Wow, we had some gusts here in central TX last week, nothing like that but not fun in a C-172. The King Air approach was nasty.

I don't think I've ever had one that was as bad as these conditions.......

Just watching that makes me cringe. Did you notice the one Swiss bus that went around and forgot to put their gear up? I have to laugh because I've done that before. You're just so distracted by what's going on and the plane is climbing very easily that you look down and notice that the wheels are still hanging down........ Been there, done that.

Sometimes you miss the little things (like the landing gear :D )
