I go to random places "to see what I can see". I go to places I am working on afcad/scenery-wise. Each becomes a "favorite" for a period of time.

But I rarely just sit and watch - no military airport in my FS world has enough consistent traffic over any extended period of time to hold my interest.
Why waste 'trons for a snappy signature when I can use this?

My best place is Nellis. FSX has a nice air traffic controler facility built in & its great to see aircraft depart & recover to base.It also has a radar view so you can track inbound aircraft from miles away.

"air traffic controller facility"........I've never heard about that feature. Can one of you FSX users show me some screenshots, it sounds interesting.

Usually I love to spot AI where:

a) it is pretty crowdy and very active (ATL, JFK, FRA, etc.)
b) there are lots of different a/c to spot (various mixed civil/military fields)
c) rare and unusual a/c fly to (Russian airports, OMSJ)
d) colorful a/c are based (usually I go there after installing a new repaint)
e) I have a decent scenery installed (Decimomannu, Hawaii, Canary or Balearic islands, Malta, Lakenheath, Coningsby, etc.)

You can go to views, then something about air traffic, and it shows all a/c that's in the sim.

Sounds like they've sorta combined the tools from the FS9 Traffic Tools SDK into a function of FSX.

Definately Anchorage! Between Anch. Int., Lake Hood, Merrill Field, and
Elemendorf you've got every type of flying there is, from Piper Super Cubs on floats to international 747 freighters to F-15's and Pavehawk helicopters :D
