O'Club drink special changed to $1 drafts on Fridays!

Great job on this, are the trees adding to the framerates and confirm you are using all MAIW-based AI models?

Is it the new IFOLS? They look like they have been updated from previous screenshots. Great job by the way! I check here everyday to see if there is any updates.

Looks like you added the memorial park on S Oceana Blvd, as well as upgraded the Specal Ops area.

Is it the new IFOLS?
evvtsa hit the jackpot. :smt038 It is the new IFOLS.

Thanks to Marcel Ritzema who provided his IFOLS macro and supporting me in making it work there is a working IFOLS trailer on every runway now.

are the trees adding to the framerates
I did not notice an impact on framerates yet, but I will do some testing.
confirm you are using all MAIW-based AI models
When working on the scenery I only have Nick Black's F-14s, F-18s, the T-34s and the AI Aardvard C-9s installed plus the F-14s of the Alphasim Enterprise.
The rest of the AI aircraft and most of the flyable aircraft are parked in a different folder to minimize loading times.
Looks like you added the memorial park on S Oceana Blvd, as well as upgraded the Specal Ops area.
You are right, the memorial park is also new and the Special Ops area is slightliy modified.
What are you using, FSDS or Gmax??
Well, to be honest - none of both. I did not make a single model.
Nearly all objects of the scenery are either from Jim Dhaenen's original scenery, from the MAIW object libraries, from John Stinstrom's separately released sceneries or are default microsoft objects. I also used a lot of generic buildings or a combination of them.
So I basically just placed a lot of objects and modified the ground textures.
But I am planning to have a look at GMAX after finishing this scenery. Maybe there will be an updated version, who knows.

Shortly after my last update I discovered a bug (and I don't mean an F/A-18  ) somewhere in the scenery files.
It caused FS9 to crash to desktop when approaching the airport from further away when all scenery objects and the AFCAD file had to be reloaded while inflight. It took me some time to find out that it was actually the AFCAD file itself that caused the crash. After the first shock of thinking it was all lost I checked my daily backups and found a version of the AFCAD file from late July that did not have the bug (yet). Lots of parking spot assignments, taxiway links and several roads and concrete surfaces had to be redone.
During the rebuild the bug apperared again. After some experimenting back and forth I think I have found the cause of the crashes.

It seems that there is only a limited number of taxiway segments (between two nodes) allowed/possible in the AFCAD file.
At some point adding a single taxiway segment to the AFCAD file caused the sim to crash. Deleting this taxiway segment again the bug disappeared.
However adding apron routes or apron surfaces was possible.

The bug appeared in coincidence with another strange phenomenon. When in top-down view the apron and taxiway textures were out of scale. The details were way to big.
I had noticed this earlier during my work but disregarded it because everything else seemed to be fine.

The solution for not beeing able to add more taxiways to complete the road layout was something I had already contemplated earlier.
So I replaced most of the roads surrounding the base with VTP lines thereby reducing the number of taxiway segments that could be used elsewhere now.

I also learned that I had to be a little bit more conservative with the amount of trees. So I thinned them out to reduce their fps impact.

Enough said, here are the latest screenshots....

Happy New Year everyone.

I started to fiddle around with GMAX in the last days.

So these are my first custom made objects for NAS Oceana

left - old version (20 single objects), middle and right new version (1 object)

This was previously a combination of generic buildings:

Hi Les,

I know what you mean.
Sometime between September 2007 and October 2009 they must have replaced the FLEDS on the western ramp (former Tomcat ramp) with newer ones.
As I try to create the scenery as the base looked when they still had some F-14s there, I modelled the old (yellow) ones.
Although it would have been much easier to design the new ones as I found the specification of the new FLEDS including three-view drawing with dimensions on the manufacturer's homepage.

I knew the FLEDS were new when I was @ Oceana this year. I didn't notice over @ the eastern ramp as that is also closed to the public during the air show.

Still looks great and can't wait till you upload to avsim etc..
