Oceana has been busy also. They are currently repainting the F-14 and the F-18 at the avaition park with new colors.

Nice job Grape, and I guess I am behind on my air wing squadrons, didn't know VFA-25 transfered to CAG-17, my old air wing.

I will eventually. Got some tweaking to do.

DUSTOFF, CVW 17 was the airwing when I was on the USS Forrestal CVA-59 back in the late 60's and early 70's. The good old days when there was variety' F-4's, A-4's, A-6's, A-7's, KA-3B's, RA-5C's etc. Wish I had taken more photos then, but it was a job and it sucked (at least in my young mind at the time). I'd do it all over again if I could only know what I know now.

Thanks to all for the kind comments,
Grape

Dustoff,
CAW-17 consists of the following..
CVW-17 (AA)
CVN-70 CARL VINSON

Support Humanitarian Operations in Haiti
and
Norfolk to San Diego around the Cape Horn
Modex Squadron Aircraft
200 VFA-81 (*2) Sunliners FA-18E
600 VAW-125 (*2) Tigertails E-2C Hawkeye 2000 NP
610 HS-15 Red Lions SH-60F/HH-60H
(AC)610 HS-7 DET. (*1) Dusty Dogs SH-60F/HH-60H
(AB)610 HS-11 DET. (*1) Dragon Slayers SH-60F/HH-60H
(AJ)610 HSC-9 DET. (*1) Tridents MH-60S
(BJ)5xx HM-14 DET. (*1) Vanguard MH-53E
(TB)xx HM-15 DET. (*1) Blackhawks MH-53E

(*1) deployed aboard until Jan. 31 from Jan. 13, 2010
in Support Humanitarian Operations in Haiti
(*2) deployed aboard from Feb. 1, 2010

CVW-17 is like the airwing assigned when a carrier goes in to overhaul etc.. CVW-17 was also the airwing that was assigned to the GW when it went to Japan.

Thanks, when I left in early 2000 the air wing had the following mix for deployment:
VF-103
VFA-34
VFA-81
VFA-83
VAW-125
VAQ-132
VS-30
HS-15<-my squadron
VRC-40 Det.

Much has changed since then, VF-103 is now VFA-103 with the Turkey gone. VAQ-132 recently transitioned to the Growler. VFA-81 traded in some of the oldest early Lots "C" Bugs for Supers. VS-30 is gone.

Annoying you. There annoying me doubly. One I have to paint the bl**dy thing and if I am not quick enough, two you start annoying me about where the paint is :smt064

I think it says it all in my signature.

Why can’t they keep the colours in the bloody paint pots and just leave them grey
