Ukrainka Air Base - ICAO Help
Ukrainka Air Base - ICAO Help
For my next air base project I am working on Ukrainka airbase (basically I'm trying to cover all the strategic bases first). The problem is that I can't locate an ICAO code. In these case, how do you asign an ICAO code? Is there some kind of MSFS guideline?
Thanks for any help.

Re: Ukrainka Air Base - ICAO Help
Based on the way I see Microsoft's listings for airports - they do not assign a four letter ICAO code to airports in most nations if they were not able to verify the code. They tend to use a number in the code assigned.
I have not been able to find any consistency between how those codes are assigned. Some airports get codes like DN0C in FS2004 and DN52 in FSX. The current actual ICAO code if DNIM. The airport did not have an ICAO code when FS2004 or FSX data was frozen.
I've found it very useful to search avsim.ru for the airport name. Sometimes I can find a scenery or AFCAD and use that code. They usually appear to be fictious codes - but for consistency sake - I use that code.
But I find most military bases in the former Soviet Union do not have ICAO codes - so you have to make them up.
The coding I most commonly see is the letter X followed by the code for the Russia region followed by two other letters.
For example Rulexy's CIS package includes XHBC for the AFCAD and scenery of Zavitinsk Air Base - about 75nm southeast of Ukrainka.

Thanks for all the advice & links - I've gone with XHUK
At the moment, the runway, aprons, taxiways, shelters and road network are in place. Now to find suitable buildings, add lighting, taxi signs and parking. Anyone fancy doing some flightplans?
Well OK - since you asked so nicelyjimrodger wrote:

Steve,
Not sure where Scramble got that one from. All other sources show no ICAO code for this base
