Repaint program

Post by shaggy22 »

Is there a program that will let me look at repainted aircraft as they would appear in fs without actually loading fs?

FSRepaint will let you see the paint. I am sure there are others but that is what I have.
Even though I haven't mastered the art of painting yet.

It has a demo mode that you can download that works just fine for what you want it to do.

Thanks very much. Just saved hours of sitting around twiddling my thumbs waiting for fs to load.

You can reduce the load time by reducing the number of aircraft in your aircraft folder.
On my setup I created a folder called aircraft-hangar and moved everything from my aircraft folder there.
In the aircraft folder I only keep the planes I am painting at the moment, very few flyable aircraft and some crosshairs for scenery design.
I usually put the aircraft I am painting on a carrier in the middle of the ocean so that the scenery load time is very short.
You can also use "reset flight" to reload the aircraft textures. However this does not always work.
Load the "previous flight" from the "select a flight" menu. When you exit FS and then restart it again the load time will also be significantly shorter as you directly get into the "select a flight" menu instead of the "create a flight" menu.

That's about the same process I use, low number of planes, and or resetting the flight to re-load the textures. Sometimes more high resolution textures don't want to leave RAM or be replaced and resetting FS is the only thing to get them to show up...so dont freak out if you don't see it right away.
