WSMG AI F-16 preview
Re: WSMG AI F-16 preview
The CBU-87/CBU-103 in the SUU-65 canister is what is used today for cluster munitions. The CBU-58 used the SUU-30 canister and has been retired. The SUU-30 had a narrowing aft end, almost like a cigar, while the SUU-65 is basically a constant diameter cylinder all the way from the nose to the tail kit.
The difference between the CBU-87 and CBU-103 is the tail kit. The CBU-87 has the standard spin-stabilizing tailfins, but the CBU-103 has the Wind Corrected Munitions Dispenser guidance package. The CBU-103 is preferred, unless a unit has simply run out of the WCMDs.
Another munition to consider would be the LAU-131 rocket pod. The 7-shot pods would be slant loaded on a TER with a pair of GBU-12's on the opposite wing and was carried by FAC's. They usually loaded white phosphorous or illum rockets for target marking. Not the most common loadout in the world, but it would be something different.
If possible, the TARS centerline recon pod would be a nice addition to the loadouts. The Block 25 and Block 30/32 jets can carry the TARS pod.
If you want/need any of the specific common loadouts, let me know.

Re: WSMG AI F-16 preview
Oh, and some blue bodies, the BDU-33 practice bombs, would be nice to see for training purposes. Probably see more of that flying around the US than a full combat loadout of live ordnance.

Re: WSMG AI F-16 preview
Thanks for the info Chris. Kevin has already modeled the BDU's along with the SUU-20 pod that carries them so that's covered as well.

Mike -
Can do the
LAU-117 (very basic shape - would also assume the GBU-12's would be on a TER slant load configuration)
TARS - Can do - found side view but no front view, also have difficulty with dimensions.
We have a CBU-103 already.
[edit] removed BDU's, your post just popped up.

Re: WSMG AI F-16 preview
Thanks, yea I just checked and I do see that you already did the CBU-103s. So looks like just a couple more to do and we should be covered for the modern stuff.

Re: WSMG AI F-16 preview
Hard part is keeping track of which munitions, get which rack??
You've done the TER-9A, the BRU-57, and the BRU-61 (for SDB's) and SUU-20.
Guessing the BRU-61 is for the GBU-39's only and obviously the SUU-20 for the practice bombs so that's easy enough.
BRU-57 for any dual mounted 500lb class weapons, GBU-38, GBU-54 and GBU-12's.
TER-9A for the slant loaded weapons?
Does that all sound correct?
Others reading this feel free to chime in, Kevin and I are perfectionists so we want to get it right.

I think I answered my own questions:
Laser guided munitions can go on the TER-9, GPS guided weapons go on the BRU-57.

Re: WSMG AI F-16 preview
Yup the BRU-57 is also known as the 'Smart Rack', so for GPS guided etc.
TER - Anything else.
BRU-61 - Only for Small Diameter GBU-39 Bombs

Re: WSMG AI F-16 preview
For the LAU-131's, they would be carried by FAC's and were slant loaded on a TER on the port wing, with two GBU-12's also slant loaded on a TER on the starboard wing. Wingtip AIM-120's were loaded and underwing AIM-9's would be used some of the time. A pair of tanks were standard. The rocket pods usually had the nose cones when carried operationally.Weescotty wrote: ↑25 Feb 2017, 23:08 Mike -

For the 310 FS at Luke, when they are doing FAC-A training flights, you'll usually see two pairs of LAU-131's slant loaded without the nose cones, and then usually a CATM-9 on the starboard wingtip rail, and one of the ACMI pods or the AMD shape on the port tip rail.
The TARS pod uses the Modular Reconnaissance Pod body designed in Denmark. The MRP is used by Denmark and Belgium on their F-16's as well. Dimensions on the TARS/MRP is 13' 4.5" long, 2' 3.5" wide, and 2' 6" tall.
This article from Air Force Magazine has a few good photos of the TARS pod off of the jet.

Re: WSMG AI F-16 preview
LAU-131 - 3 options
a) With front cap
b) With rockets (only in red so they show up ... temporary)
c) Empty
Just working on the texture...real simple
Left, then right (mirror on x axis), then rear, then front, then rockets.

Re: WSMG AI F-16 preview
Awesome, that will let me complete most of the loadouts we want to do.

335 SQN "Tigris/Tiger" NATO TIGER MEET 2015
Hi all,
my 1st attempt to paint this wonderful bird, although for this one the resources are limited to a few low quality photos.
I want to especially thank Mike and Kevin for providing me the paintkit
The Hellenic Air Force CAMO is from Kevin Reed .
PS: I am only using P3D.

Cool, that didn't take long!
Nice to see the model in P3D. We can eventually fix the canopy issue.

Re: WSMG AI F-16 preview
The only thing I can see (I have been meaning to get around to it).
The warning triangles on the conformal tanks are larger than the ones on the fuselage, so they need shrinking slightly.
Apart from that looks great!

Re: WSMG AI F-16 preview
Right,
I didnt mention it either, check this out, F-16C, if you look more closely/detail, the warning badge is by CTF at the one seaters "C" but not at the fuselage and at the CFT and the fuselage by 2 seaters "D", at least by HAF.
EDIT : F-16D

Re: WSMG AI F-16 preview
Another thing that I have just show by the pictures and remember, is that the 52+ADV(or 52+M) have the warnings black/light grey and not orange colored by HAF.
Re: WSMG AI F-16 preview
Ah, he has used the two seat stencils, instead of the single seat ones.
This is one of the reasons we have been a little reluctant with the paintkit release, there are SO MANY different options its easy to miss one!
