Re: A brand new MS Flight Simulator is coming...

First I've heard of that. I've not seen anyone mention it, and I have to say I don't think it's accurate. As far as I'm aware, the Steam installation is the same once-only buy as it is direct from Microsoft. There's no requirement to have an XBox Live account to run the game, and the only other way ...

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon

It would be normal for them to go via Lajes, Gander, Bangor and then somewhere mid-USA (Scott?) to get to KLSV, in company with a Voyager. In the days when I did Atlantic trails, each would be a nightstop and arriving in Vegas would be a blessed relief! It is technically possible for them to go dire...

Re: A brand new MS Flight Simulator is coming...

Yes, John. It’s done from within the loaded program. It’s not like the P3D system where you reinstall the whole thing.

Re: A brand new MS Flight Simulator is coming...

Is it out? I thought it was scheduled for 30th Sep. I picked up the update from the other day (no SDK update in that), but that didn’t include Japan. Edit: ok, just checked the development stream. The next update is released on 29th Sept. There is a small SDK update, but it’s mostly about accommodat...

Re: A brand new MS Flight Simulator is coming...

No and no, as far as I can tell. ATC is very similar to the FS9/FSX system. Slightly better voiced, but really not much advanced. I’m not sure anyone at Asobo really understands the aviation environment, so, again, the airspace and navigation components are very similar to the older sims. On the oth...

Yes, I must have changed the name at some point without altering it in RDV. But I'm now determined to produce Schnip-schnop!

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon

A further note about the GAF plans. Essentially they are an update and translation of the plans developed for the NBAI-generation Typhoons, edited to use John’s aircraft and with obvious errors in the modern context resolved (mostly...!). There are some additional lines to accommodate some new traff...

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon

Just a small hint for the flightplans of the German Eurofghters: the Airbase Jever (ETNJ) ist closed since September 2013. Apart from this you have done a great work, thank you very much! Olaf Hi Olaf. From my research I understood that Jever, though no longer an active flying base, was still avail...

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon

Brilliant effort, John. It’s been a pleasure to be a small part of it.

I am continuing to work on the FSX/P3D Italian bases, and hope to have that work completed in the next couple of weeks.

Re: A brand new MS Flight Simulator is coming...

I have been busy the last couple of weeks finishing the P3D Coningsby for Johns Typhoon but also converting the scenery to Fs2020. Here is a screen of how it is so far. The most time consuming part for me is that I am slowly adding PBR textures to the models to take advantage of the rendering engin...

Re: ACG Airbase Color Blend

The problem with ICAO codes is that MSFS seems to have randomly re-allocated disused codes to unlicenced strips and other landing grounds that it's included, and people are finding that they can't 're-appropriate' the ICAO code to a retro airfield. Obviously, you can invent your own code (and the si...

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon

Yes, no problem John. I’m busy in the studio doing MSFS stuff today (exciting!), but I’ll make sure I have a backup single AFCAD ready to go before I spend more time on trying to make the Q system work. That way we can call a halt at any point when you’re ready to publish.

Re: MAIW and FS2020 question

There are more and more third-party airfield being produced for FS20, and hopefully the techniques required will become more common knowledge soon. The AI engine is still a bit of a mystery (though it looks like the traffic files are very similar to those in FSX/P3D), and porting AI aircraft has not...

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon

John, I forgot to mention this yesterday - I’m not having the lighting problems you’re reporting in FSX:SE We only have one other problem to solve and that's the issue of traffic freezes in the overlaid AFCADs for the QRA Typhoons in two of Giorgio's sceneries that have been converted for FSX and P3...

Manfred, that looks stunning. Brings back many happy memories of RAFG and is a fabulous memorial to the place and those who served there.

Re: Hello John Young

John can answer for himself, I’m sure, but most of us are waiting for the SDK for FS20 to be fleshed out a bit. There are several people over at FSDeveloper who are laying the groundwork for the techniques required, but at the moment scenery design - particularly airfield design - is pretty labour-i...
