Re: RAF Gütersloh P3D restarted

'Base Ops' (just Operations in RAF-speak) was in the bottom of the Control Tower building, although there was also a hardened facility for exercise/war use. I can't remember exactly where that was off the top of my head.

Re: The JYAI A10-A 'Warthog'

.....by no means an expert, I had a go at making a video - https://peterabeeby68.wistia.com/medias/0644vgtpl6 Enjoy ! The computer-generated transcript of that is hilarious! one thing that was clear as day was....no hopping skipping or jumping....nearly every other AI that apparently works for msfs...

Re: NH-90

Tim Thanks for the suggestion, I'll have a rummage. Regards Paul Day. If there's nothing there that suits, give me a shout. After doing Ahlhorn and Oldenburg for John's Meteor package I probably have enough resources to do Fassberg without too much extra work. Niederstetten wasn't RAF, so its build...

Re: NH-90

Hi Paul. This package might help, but you'll have to update it to FSX. FS2004 German Military Sceneries.

Re: RAF Gütersloh P3D restarted

Hi Manschy. It was certainly standard for RAF airfields to have taxiway edge lighting. Centreline lighting was rare, but would occasionally be used for runway turnoffs and the like. In my time, edge lights were amber on the outside and blue on the inside edge of the taxiways (inside being nearest to...

Re: RAF Gütersloh P3D restarted....

Brüggen certainly works in v6. I haven't found many airfields that don't, to be honest. I must try your settings and see how good I can get the photos!

Re: RAF Gütersloh P3D restarted

My Dad's on the left. On the right is Air Marshal Sir Mike Beetham, then CinC RAF Germany (which means the photo is 1976, not 75). He was later Chief of the Air Staff and Acting Chief of the Defence Staff. Yes, it's the Burgermeister of Harsewinkel in the middle - sadly, I can't remember his name. M...

Re: RAF Gütersloh P3D restarted

Delighted to hear it, Manschy! I spent two happy years at Gütersloh 1975/76, working on the local economy (including on base) while my Dad was the station commander. I left with the Lightnings to start my own flying career. You are very welcome to any help I can give. My Dad receiving the Freedom of...

Re: Scenery recommendations for P3D v5.4

OK, understood. An awful lot of the stuff available here and elsewhere would now be regarded as 'retro' as it's so hard to keep it up to date! SDB stuff is mostly retro, though I think they may do one or two current US bases. The UK2000 airfields were current in (roughly) 2010-15. There have been so...

Re: Scenery recommendations for P3D v5.4

I assume you mean sceneries that need no conversion or adaptation to, for instance, activate dynamic lighting? There are a great many very good sceneries here on MAIW that were never made for P3D but look great in that sim if just a little work is done with MCX. Any of the old UKMil or ACG sceneries...

Re: P3Dv6 is here.

I don't regard it as a waste of money, as I was intending to buy another v5 licence anyway so that I could have it on both of my computers. I'll treat this as effectively v5.5, and do all my compiling for v4 or v5.

Re: P3Dv6 is here.

The MAIW Matrix (P3Dv4) sceneries seem to work, but - as was true with v5 - it looks like it's going to be necessary to compile excludes for the default buildings. Whether those I've already modified for v5 will work straight away I don't yet know. Nor do I know whether ADE v5 output will work prope...

Re: P3Dv6 is here.

Let's try in stages... Well, that took longer than I hoped! First impressions - it's very difficult to see the differences. The lighting is better (and there's more control over it). The clouds aren't. The installed aircraft appear to be exactly the same as v5. The default ground textures are an imp...

It would appear I am unable to post my review. I get a '403 - Forbidden' when I try. I have no idea if there are certain words or initials that I may not use (I described the system I'm using), but I can't post it!

Re: P3Dv5 is here.

All agreed, and it will be interesting to see what LM brings in with respect to weaponry. I'd be surprised if they get anywhere near DCS's playability at a game level, or its accuracy as an aircraft and weapons simulator (where the cost is incidental). I reckon my investment in P3D totals something ...
