Like you mentioned, food for thought... :D So at this point let me add a strange (to me) observation before I go for sleep... (it's 2230 hours here in Athens, Greece) When you are exporting your model from FSDS V3.5 to FSX you are getting a message showing the number of vertices of the model created...

Ron and Jake, I agree that ofcourse it's desirable but at the very end this is a right, when the model exported, is, the model you have designed. What I mean is that snap to at 0.001 is a benefit when you are able to see this detail at the end result, and that result can only be seen in FSX and only...

Mike, what kind of error do you get? Are sure you have setup correctly the FSX SDK SP1 and the BglComp path to FSDS V3.5? I've made some tests and works fine for me exporting either as scenery mdl or bgl. What Ron is saying is also very possible and seems that so far is the No 1 cause of FSDS V3.5 p...

Jake, It's very easy :D . I will give you the instructions but I' give you also a trick that I'm using which I believe is more comfortable and practical in order not to switching between FS9 and FSX. So, After installation, when you first run the program, it will ask you to configure the program acc...

Rysiek, I'm Just guessing that apart from any specialised keyframe animation which might exist in FSDS V3.5, or the enhanced boolean operation as Abacus claims (I'have'nt test it) I'm afraid that there will be no benefit as you will still have to go via makemdl so as to produce the mdl for fs9 and t...

IMPORTANT - To those haven't visited yet the military ai aircraft design section I would recommend to do that. I have posted there some observations after some testing I did last night with FSDS V3.5 by exporting models with makemdl and xtomdl for comparison into fsx which look very very promising.....

Hi Steve, Mainly from experience, but also after reading some topics in FFDS in the past, I would say that it's not a LOD issue and there is nothing wrong with the models. It's is just the FS strange behavior. Some models are loosing their textures in closer distances comparing to some other models....

Finally I got the answer came from Abacus and of course...

"That is strickly a preorder of version 3.5. It is not out for downloading yet."

So that ends this issue.

Cheers :D

Graham you are right, I remember that and what you are describing is what I believe too. I knew that it was in beta so it cannot be true apart from the case that is there for pre-order. Unfortunately there is no text saying something like "available for pre-order". So, If you open the page...

Thanks Nick, You are very kind and your input is always valuable :D Ok, I'm having some tips in my mind and yesterday I took the big decision. After testing some ideas I had about it, I found that there is a strong possibility - fingers crossed - to keep almost the same appearance as my pictures are...

It seems I caused a misunderstanding  Sorry about that. Probably is my poor english. Of course I agree that the upgrade will be free for the FSDS V3 users - it is written anyway there - but my question was to to do with what I saw in the pages I've described. So the best way to find an answer ...

FSDS V3.5 Upgrade for FSDSV2.xx users first or what???

That's strange, I went into the Abacus website to see something, and from the main screen, when I went in to the "product support", on the left side of the main page and then opened the FS Design studio V3 it is bringing you to "frequently asked questions" which includes info for...

Ok, I can see clearly what you mean. So, is much more a matter of judgement for each LOD what to keep and what not to keep considering also 2D surfaces where possible in long distances. I'm going back to FSDS for testing..

Thanks again :D

Thank you Nick, I appreciate your help :D , So, as I'm thinking how to catch what you are describing and If I understand correctly the concept, my target should be a. To reduce the LOD 1 polys as possible but at least to below 5000. Ok, practicly that means that I will have probably to redesign comp...

Danny, My understanding is that the hangars are not contained in a single bgl. I have done some research in the past, as I was looking for hangars suitable for designing military airports, so I went through all the default FS9 bgl libraries trying to locate if any, using flight1 instant scenery as a...

LOD stories.. and a query - Need Help for LODs setup

First of all, relax and get a cup of coffee or get back some other time - Yeah, I know, Greeks are talking too much  Well, I have a query for the F-16 block 52 plus I'm trying to build - you can see some pictures in the "your packages" section. I'm writing this query here as it is not...

Thanks for your interest Keith, Well, as I have described above the progress is very slow at this momment because my available time is very limited and since I'm not experienced I still have many things to learn. So, when I have some spare time I'm eating 80 percent of it with trials which are going...
