Re: All Buildings at MCAS Miramar disappeared

Scott, what sim version are you referring to? No buildings show in my copy of Miramar when used in P3Dv4 - just a few fire trucks and the AFCAD are visible. I'm surprised that the Hornets, Ospreys and Citations work if they are FS9 models. They would normally appear in P3Dv4 with the gear up. If it'...

Re: F-35 Variants (FS9, FSX and P3Dv4)

I've just sent Part 3 of the project (F-35C's for FSX and P3Dv4) for inclusion in the Download Hangar. This is being released ahead of Part 2 (F-35B's for FS9), which is nearing completion. The F-35C package features 31 aircraft in land-based and carrier configurations with FDE's by Steve Holland. I...

Re: F-35 Variants (FS9, FSX and P3Dv4)

It does, but it happens so fast you would miss it if you blink. I would just live with it Giorgio.

Re: F-35 Variants (FS9, FSX and P3Dv4)

That's a good spot Hartwig. I'll do that paint, but do you want it at Pax River for the short term, or should I ask Brent to add it to Beaufort?

Re: Windows Update

Thanks Mike. I certainly have 20 or so Office 2010 updates notified. Just wish I could download them and install them automatically.

Re: Windows Update

Steve's settings make sense, but I don't think they are right, at least for Windows 7. Mark's settings, I've seen in an article I found on the net and I think are correct, but don't make sense to me if Windows Time isn't running, unless it's triggered by a program when needed. Could some body provid...

Re: Windows Update

I may have disturbed my Windows Time entry in the Windows Services settings when I was trying to get my WUD to function. Could someone with Windows 7 just check this for me please: Click the Windows start button and in the search field type "services.msc". When the screen appears, scroll d...

Re: Windows Update

Nothing in particular Steve, but I just wanted to ensure that I don't miss any important security updates. They have been coming in at about once a month, but I've had 3 or 4 recently in quick succession before my WUD got wrecked. I think I will set it to notify me of updates and as you say, I can d...

Re: prop_anim_ratio= question

I don't think the prop_anim_ratio has any effect in FSX or P3D. I tend not to include it where I remember, but there are some examples from me where the lines were just carried over from the FS9 aircraft.cfg.

Re: Windows Update

I have my windows update screen working again and everything looks normal. However, I think downloads may be getting stuck somewhere and don't complete (error code 800706BF). I found two useful pages of advice that helped me get WUD functional again: https://www.wintips.org/windows-update-cannot-che...

Re: Windows Update (Windows 7)

Sorry I should have noticed the other thread. Perhaps Greg can merge them. I'm sure it's the same problem. I've tried the date trick but that didn't work. I also tried the other suggested fix - to install Microsoft Silverlight to bring back the option in WUD to "check for updates to other Micro...

Windows Update (Windows 7)

Could somebody with Windows 7 64 bit please attach a copy of your wuauclt.exe file please? It's in the windows/System32 folder. Ideally updated after the latest round of Microsoft updates. It should be small enough to post, but it might need zipping anyway. I'm trying to find out why my Microsoft Up...

Re: F-35 Variants (FS9, FSX and P3Dv4)

Even though the parking link is pointing out, the aircraft, unlike FS9, will still push back by about it's length. A blue node placed as described will stop that and the aircraft will taxi forward straight out.

Re: F-35 Variants (FS9, FSX and P3Dv4)

Draw the AFCAD as you normally would Gary. Then place a new blue node on each outbound parking link and then drag it towards the centre of the parking spot until it is directly over it. As you drag, you must keep the new section of the link straight, which is a little tricky because it gets shorter,...

Re: F-35 Variants (FS9, FSX and P3Dv4)

I can do it comfortably with AFCAD2 or AFX Mike, although I prefer to use AFX because of the live preview facility. ADE is more difficult because of the arrow head in the link. The secret is to do it in one quick movement, keeping the line behind the node straight as it reduces in length down to zer...

Re: F-35 Variants (FS9, FSX and P3Dv4)

I hadn't thought of placing the nodes by copying and pasting the centre coordinates Mike, so I just tried it. It took 48 seconds that way for a single node, compared to 8 seconds moving by hand. That's fine for a carrier deck, but for 200 spots on an airfield, probably better for me by hand.

Re: F-35 Variants (FS9, FSX and P3Dv4)

I have everything working now on the carrier, thanks Mike. Placing the anti-pushback nodes requires a steady hand and a deep breath. The node has to keep the parking link straight and be right over the centre spot, not a mm in front of it nor a mm behind it. Greg's deck fix worked fine, the turning ...

Re: F-35 Variants (FS9, FSX and P3Dv4)

I don't think so Jamie - not without the source files. I'm assuming that you would need to extract the model of the ship you are interested in with MCX and export it as a new .bgl, together with a repositioned AFCAD to where you want it. The Carr2006 scenery folder has 165 .bgl's files in it that co...

Re: F-35 Variants (FS9, FSX and P3Dv4)

I have 7 F-35C's on the deck Mike. Pushback is not a problem in FSX or P3Dv4 with blue nodes placed on the outbound links of the AFCAD and dragged back to the centre of each spot. The turning circle is a bit of a challenge as is this phenomenon - the landing aircraft (like the one in the centre) are...
