Very pessimistic of you John, but I think that is very feasible. I heard that the Prince of Wales was going to be a conventional carrier though and only the QE was going to be modified to have a cat/trap system. That wouldn't suit the French would it! But I tell you what I wouldnt count anything out...

John, you could certainly xml code the gear as Drew said. You could link it to speed or height above ground level, so that once the aircraft reaches a certain height the gear wil come up, however you would probably want the gear to come up very quickly after take off but still come down a long time ...

If you do that it will be on all the time. The MAIW F-15 afterburner effect is designed to only come on at take-off and timed to go off after a short time. But each to their own.
