Re: JYAI C-130J Specials

Great work there John. Those USCG HC-130Js are actually from the USAF, with a bunch of extra new bits bolted on. But I agree, the USAF HC-130Js are almost indistinguishable from the MC-130Js.

Re: JASDF Bases

We slipped two more mini projects into the latest batch of files to hit the Hangar. The first is a FSX/P3D update for the FS9 Tokushima project. https://i.imgur.com/QXOEASZ.jpg The second is a FS9/FSX/P3D update for 3 Kokutai at Atsugi, now equipped completely with Kawasaki P-1s instead of the mix o...

Re: JYAI C-130J Specials

So just to confirm, there are no KC-130Rs at Iwakuni? That is correct. They are all KC-130Js at Iwakuni. The only non J KC-130s left with the USMC are a handful of KC-130Ts with VMG-452 at Stewart ANGB. They are transitioning to Js right now. As to how many they have. The initial set was 3 for test...

Re: JYAI C-130J Specials

Bit of clarification John. KC-130Rs were C-130Hs refit to KC-130F standard. They have all been retired, though six returned from the desert to serve with the JMSDF after having their refueling systems removed. The Harvest Hawks are all KC-130Js. Each squadron has three Harvest Hawk kits and can (the...

Re: MAIW MGAI Boeing xC-135 Family Conversion Support

Yeah, I noted with a prior model that adjusting the wingspan caused things to get all wibbley wobbley. A bunch of settings would need to be rebalanced for the new wingspan. As a sloppy fix, I'm looking at trying to ID all the XC-135 visitors to the specific location and hard coding them some parking...

Re: MAIW MGAI Boeing xC-135 Family Conversion Support

Hey guys, not a major issue, but I noted that the XC-135 models tend to park in spaces way smaller than they should. It looks like they want to use parking spots with model radius appropriate for fighter jets. Not a problem at their home bases where they use coded parking, but a bit goofy in transie...

Re: JASDF Bases

The era of F-4s flying for the JASDF is officially ending. 302 Hikotai has traded in their Phantoms for F-35As and relocated from Hyakuri to Misawa. Repaints for the JYAI F-35A model and flightplans will be in the Hangar shortly. https://i.imgur.com/9fCmj5m.jpg https://i.imgur.com/XQQUiN2.jpg 301 Hi...

CV-22 yellow windshield frames?

I've searched for an answer for this and come up dry. Maybe someone here knows. Some USAF CV-22s have yellow frames around the front windshield... Occasionally. They seem to come and go. Does anyone know what/why? Examples: https://farm8.static.flickr.com/7852/46994296271_c6b9103a36_b.jpg https://cd...

Re: Thoughts on the next project

The 8 bladed prop is an experimental upgrade for the C-130Hs remaining in Air Guard and Reserve service. They are also doing an engine swap to RR TF-56 3.5s. The test is supposed to run through 2020. Of course, they did the same test back in 2010 with just the props (no engine change).

Re: Bolling HP

I have found through trial and error that you can often get away with runways as short as 500 feet with the JYAI UH-60s and several other models With a 500 foot runway, the model won't be able to take off by the end of the runway. This doesn't actually impact how the model flies, but it may cause it...

Very nice rendition. If you want, take a look at the AFCAD for NDV included in the HMX-1 package. That should help you with how to build short helicopter runways.

Re: JASDF Bases

I am currently using T-34s masquerading as T-7s. I certainly wouldn't mind some real T-7s. If some T-7s were to appear, Hofu (the other T-7 base) could certainly use an overhaul and update to FSX/P3D standard.
