I was just writing a term paper that included a section on thrust reversers and I began to wonder why C-17s usually (always?) park with their thrust reverser cascade vanes open?

Selfridge KC-135's transfered from the 927th AFRC to the 127th ANG and therefore have new paint schemes. The RWY12 program lets you place default objects from FS. So if you're working on a default scenery you can just exclude the tower where it is at and add a new one of the same type in the location you want.
