Re: jbai dominies
I've done it (for my Finningley 1990), and it worked fine*. I haven't checked if they work in P3Dv5 (I don't use v4 any more), but there's no reason why they shouldn't. It was a matter of a few seconds' work in MCX, and I didn't have to muck around with any of the animations. *Although, looking at t...

Re: changing atc type
Do you have Martin's AI Editor Dot NET? That will pick up any errors in the aircraft's cfg. Quite often, AI models are missing the Radio section, and AIE will pick this up and ask you if you want it to include it. Say 'yes', and it sorts it out. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the problem.

You must have a Program data folder, but you need to activate 'view hidden files and folders' to see it.tornado3367 wrote: ↑01 Feb 2022, 17:52 i cant seem to find it manfred. ive also tried to create an xml folder but no luck. i think its because i have not got a program data folder ive only got a program files x86 folder

Re: Addon Scenery Objects for FSX
They need to be visible to the sim, so you have to install and activate them in Addon Scenery just like any airfield.

Re: MSFS 2020
To be a little clearer, the conversion plug-in to allow Blender to create for MSFS "features a customized glTF 2.0 exporter, batch export for multi-LOD scenes, and support for all 15 materials of the sim platform." In other words, I believe it produces output that is just as valid as any f...

Re: MSFS 2020
I suspect that what little information exists in the SDK refers to models made in 3DsMax, and I think that's currently the only officially-supported creative 3D program - and it costs a fortune. However, there is a conversion plug-in available for Blender (2.8 and later) which I understand works wel...

Re: MSFS 2020
Frankly, you may be best asking that question of Asobo and Microsoft! There are a number of issues with AI in MSFS which Asobo have acknowledged. On their Feedback Snapshot , it shows that resolving the issues has 'started', but there's no more detail. Some MAIW users have managed to convert a few F...

Re: Graphics issues with trees
Looks like Waddington. There are some good sceneries for that which work perfectly well in P3D, so there should be no need to use an FS9 version - which is definitely where those trees come from.

Re: Air Force One/Marine One schedule
I think the issue is that since I reinstalled the simulator, whatever add-on structure that MAIW injected into the sim is now gone. I can create scenery all day long, but I don't know the first thing about adding AI aircraft. If someone has some insight on how to get the sim to recognize my AI airc...

Re: Air Force One/Marine One schedule
If you are creating flight plans for P3Dv5, make sure AIFP is set to that sim (you'll need the latest version). Lockheed Martin changed quite a lot of airfield designators from the FSX/FS9 generation that was used until P3Dv4, and if you compile for anything other than P3Dv5, you may find your traff...

Re: Finningley 1990s P3Dv4
Lindholme was still the RLG for Finningley when I was doing Multi-Engine Training in 1980. Northern Radar was still operating its Type 82 then, but had gone by the time I returned on YUAS in 1987 (I think it folded in 1984). By then, Lindholme had largely been turned over to the Home Office and the ...

Re: Thoughts on the next project
I can't answer those questions - I've never looked at Materialize or XNormal, and I'm not up to speed on PBR. I was just interested in whether you could do it. Ambient Occlusion is something I'd dearly love to do in SketchUp, but it's pretty much impossible. That's why I promised myself I'd learn Bl...

Re: Norton AFB
I think have about 12,000 on various Airbus, fairly evenly split between the A340-300, A340-600 and A330-300 with a few (maybe 1000) on the A330-200. I really must get around to putting them all in the same place so I can add them up! The -600 arrived at Virgin just as I moved from the 747, so I fle...

John, how does working in GMax square with using PBR textures? Or are you going to steer clear of those for now?

Re: MCAS Beaufort KNBC Install
Fixed it. The airfield background exclude poly is actually interfering with the ADE-generated CVX airfield background. This is different from the behaviour in FSX-P3Dv4. I've now got the MAIW airfield working at 8.5m with a flat background. Edit: correction. No I haven't - something got a bit crosse...

Re: MCAS Beaufort KNBC Install
Chris, having spent some time on Beaufort yesterday, I found that 11.5m (38ft) was the lowest I could pitch it at and not get issues with the runways disappearing. It's a shame, as with the Orbx mesh installed, 8.5-9m (28-32ft) would look much better, but that gets 14-32 underground, and loads of ba...

I'm sorry, I think you've misunderstood my message. I'm not criticising you; I'm just saying that I can't legally provide you with the ready-made solution for your problem, even though I have solved the problem myself. I would love to, but it's not allowed. That's why I suggest you have a go at ADE....

Re: MCAS Beaufort KNBC Install
Yeah, OK - understood. It's not OK to share with you the work I've done, as I've modified someone else's work without their permission. It may be that the MAIW Elders would allow it to be shared via the Hangar, but to do it justice would need a complete new AFD, and the buildings relocated (and one ...
