RAF Northolt

Post by delbydoo »

Brian Clarke has once again done his magic and produced yet another striking scenery. This time it is the home of No.32(The Royal) Squadron, RAF Northolt, situated in North West London.
Using various scenery object libraries (list will be in the Readme) he's done a fantastic job both airside and on the domestic area. There is a screenshot of John Youngs AI Spitfire, converted to a static model, to represent the one on the station; although that one is a Mk IX and John's is a Mk Vb. But it still looks good.
Just waiting on a couple of permissions and tweaks, and it should be available soon.

Hi Daryl,
Looks very good but I use VFR Real scenery so I wonder if it will line up with photo scenery? Would be terrific if it did.

Sorry Steve, but neither Brian nor I possess VFR scenery so we cannot accommodate your request. This has come up before and we decided that the scenery will be set (as MAIW is) for a default setup. If we started doing it for vfr people would want it for other addons and I'm sure you appreciate that this is not practical. Glad you like it though. :)

Thanks Brian & Daryl, much appreciated :D

Edit: It might just be me, but isn't the background poly a bit extreme in the runway overrun area? Granted, I can't remember if FS does it on its own, but it could be trimmed back a bit if possible.

That was indeed the default background to the airport. Here is a fix if anyone wants to get rid of it.

Hi, Much to my surprise the Northolt scenery download was blocked by smartscreen who believe that the download site is dodgy!!!!
Can the RAF Northolt scenery please be uploaded to another website?

Your computer thinks that Daryl is trying to give us viruses? I think it's safe to over ride that one.

I suspect that it is probably your AV that doesn't like it. Please be assured that I do download the files myself after uploading and rescan with my AV......it's clean :D

But it is available at avsim.com

Sadly, your plan is doomed to fail as your target for world conquest is a bunch of guys who sit at their computers all day pouring over pixels and adjusting taxi lines by a quarter inch in each direction. :|

I was going to have a witty retort... but then I noticed the shade of blue on the latest Blackhawks isn't quite right...
