I don't know why this has happened but I can't access the default map in FSX.
When I click to bring it up nothing happens, the reason I want it is sometimes I like to fly a seaplane so I slew the icon on the map to the desired spot.
Also I use it the same way to do a water afcad, I slew the aircraft to the desired spot and move it around to get the right point to start to make the afcad.
I don't want to have to re-install FSX, that would be my very last option, in fact I would do without it rather than do that, so any ideas please?

FSX lost the default map.
Re: FSX lost the default map.
Do you think it is the map itself or something else?
If you think it is the map you could try unarchiving a copy of it from the original install media.
The file you want is map.datand it is in the Uires folder.
Might be worth copying it from a backup first if you have one.

Re: FSX lost the default map.
Hi Steve,
I looked on my FSX Gold disks but couldn't find the map or the Uires, it is probably hidden inside one of the zips.
In the Uires folder in my sim I have Map.DAT 17,236kb dated 12/06/2006

Re: FSX lost the default map.
Well I copied the Map.dat from FS9 as it seemed to be the same, but still no joy.
I did get round it by slewing in the sim and using Plan-G, I could see the aircraft icon on that map.

Re: FSX lost the default map.
OK it sounds as if some xml or setting has got screwed.
What i would do is try renaming the FSX.cfg and then letting it build a new one.
IF that fixes the problem then you can compare the old one and the new one and start to copy things back across, like your joystick settings.
