Kadena AFCAD
Hi,
This weekend I was playing around with some USAF AI traffic in Japan. I noticed there was a MAIW AFCAD for Kadena installed which came with the E-3 package.
I created some flightplans for Nick Black's F-15 and noticed the aircraft didn't take off from rw 05R and 23L. On the 23L side there was a 'closed' taxiway connected to the runway without a hold short node. The aircraft took the closed taxiway and didn't take off (because of the non existing hold short node). Removing the runway connection and rerouting the apron path to the other hold short node solved this problem.
On the 05R base end, the hold short nodes seemed too far away from the runway. The taxiways where connected to a node well in the 1000 ft overrun area of the runway. I moved both runways some 500 ft in the 05 base end direction; that solved the problem.
I also adjusted the width of both runways to 148 ft and put aprons of 200 ft (05R/23L) and 300 ft (05L/23R) wide under the runways to make them look more like in real life. Also replaced the VASI for PAPI4.
All is well now Just wanted to let you guys know.
Regards,
David

It sounds like this is turning into a full blown project, David.
Are you now thinking about the possibility of adding scenery, either from scratch or using ez libs?

The AFCAD for Kadena is totally reworked (build from scratch). I combined Google earth images with an airport diagram I found on the web and I think it comes quite close now.
It's added in case you want to use it. There's also a post in the screenshot section to give you an idea what it lookes like.

David
