Didn't one crash because of a failure of one of the gearboxes causing the rotors to mesh?

Yes it did.

BA flew Chinooks from Aberdeen to the oil rigs, they were operated by British Airways Helicopters. They had 44 seats and one cabin crew member, everyone had to wear wetsuits.

BA Helicopters also had a Chinook base in, I think, Penzance which operated flights to the Scilly Isles.

However after the crash BA sold their Chinooks and switched to the S61.

I've uploaded an AI S-61N version of that model at Hovercontrol some time ago. It uses the same texture maps, so you'll need to compress it a little...

And here it is in a borrowed RAF uniform. By the way, Bell 209, are you Rob , Chris or Mal? I ask because I'm not sure who uploaded the file. Thanks, Lewis

Rob. Chris gave me a hand when I was in the early stages of GMax and could design the Mk50 but not texture it. The AI Sea Kings are therefore a joint effort! I did the basic design and Chris tidied it up and textured it, then I added the LODs. Mal did the texture sheets and initial (RAN) paints. The deal was that I'd make the entire RAF/RAN variants for UKMil. I've since done another version for Graham King for an upcoming package and did the S-61N as a project for someone else.

I've just noticed I didn't change the tail rotor, though - it still has the Westland six-blader. I'll fix that and re-upload when I get a chance. Enjoy!

Thanks a bunch Rob. I have been retexturing the HAR3 from the UK Seakings package in various US uniforms trying to erase the radar dome and the inlets filter housings but could'nt, so I just forgot about these details and went on with them. Have you built a US H-3 model? It would be nice to have even if they are being phased out, but for retro packs, they will be much appreciated. Included are some of the repaints.
Thanks once more to you, Chris and Mal for this model.

Show me a photo of what you want and I'll make you a model when I can.

I've uploaded a revised S-61N to Hovercontrol with the correct tail rotor, too.

Rob, I'm having a hard time finding this. I read about "AI" helos being hosted at Hovercontrol but I have not been able to find such. "AI helicopters" in search returns a "no results matched your search". I know there are multi-LOD models available here, but I have not been able to find them.

Thanks, :)

Here's the ai_S-61N
http://64.34.169.161/ifolio_files/file_ ... _S-61N.zip

I found it by just manually looking in Downloads\Various-Misc. (Why there? Who knows?) Right behind that are a couple more ai helos..
Why waste 'trons for a snappy signature when I can use this?

Rob, basicly it is the HAR3 but without the engines intake filters and the radar dome in the rear fuselage top. Included is a screenie of an example.

Fantastic. The only glitch I have found, is the texturing of the engines intake. I retextured the "Engine Filter Front" and the "Engine Filter Top" in dark gray in the section on the main fuselage texture but no results came out, so, I don't know from where the engines get their color, no biggie, next I relocated the rear windows and it definitly looks great.
Thanks a bunch Rob. See screenies. Lewis
