New packages

Post by petebramley »

It has been mentioned that there are MAIW packages that are now ready for release & once AVSIM is back up and running they will be published. Is there any reason that these packages cannot be released via Flightsim.com and then on AVSIM when they get back up online ???

There are historic reasons, Pete. The full details I am not familiar with, suffice it to say that you will have time for your anticipation to come nicely to the boil.
Sorry about that.

I am quite happy to await the release on AVSIM (well, sort of). I was just wondering about the need to wait for Avsim; that's all.

I know that whatever is said on the forums, packages will only be released when they are good & ready :)

I have no idea how large the file backlog is now at AVSIM, but no matter how quickly we upload the packages, there's not much we can do to get them out any quicker.

Flightsim.com dorked up several of our packages back in the day. We stopped using them after that.

yes, the files newly listed would not d/l. Me thinks the announcement is a bit premature. Sure they will get it right soon.

I was reading the forums on the Alpha India Group website and they (Jarel) said that "Avsim is destroyed and will be offline for a very long time".

Here is a link to the thread http://www.alpha-india.net/forums/index ... icseen#new

So I guess MAIW will have to figure out what to do with your releases.

Library server and the Forum, email server, and all the AVSIM related loss of function, and got blindsided attack ...

AVSIM current site and potentially the collapse at the server itself is completely destroyed.

Data recovery back to normal now difficult to find the AVSIM not to know.

To recover data even if you can not know how long that will temporarily stop the operation of AVSIM announced itself.

maiw Do not wait I think You should release.

I can't speak for the staff, but you're probably gonna have to just wait until AVSIM is fixed then.

As Mike said before in another post (which was new to me) that Flightsim screwed up some of MAIW's stuff and thus we don't use them anymore.

I guess once AVSIM gets back up and running, there'll just be a mass release

Actually this bodes well for staff and contributors, some breathing time to sit back and relax a bit.

This was posted over at the Sim-Outhouse forum approximately 2245 last evening :

PRESS RELEASE: AVSIM Hacked!!

Tom Allensworth, CEO and Publisher of AVSIM, today issued the following announcement; “We regret to inform the flight simulation community that on Tuesday, May 12, AVSIM was hacked and effectively destroyed. The method of the hack makes recovery difficult, if not impossible, to recover from. Both servers, that is the library / email and web site / forum servers were attacked. AVSIM is totally offline at this time and we expect to be so for some time to come. We are not able to predict when we will be back online, if we can come back at all. We will post more news as we are able to in the coming days and weeks. END

Best Regards,
Tom Allensworth
