JANET MAIW package

Post by explorer »

It is military related of sorts. Is MAIW going to do a JANET package or has it been considered.?
JANET is kind of an "out there" topic and nothing too serious has ever been released.
I would think it would fit in with MAIW real well.
Maybe just lack of interest.?
Also, since they are converting all the B737-200's to B737-600's, I thought it would be cool. There are only two of the 200's left out of six.
And with the King Air's and 1900's, it would make a nice package.
(I sound like I am grobelling at a stop light holding a donation sign)
Just wondering, I have Janets flying in my sim, so its not for lack of want.
I did wonder MAIW's position on this since you guys are all military.
Thanks
Roger M.

As it happens, it has been on my list to do for a while. As yet its not got beyond the planning stage.
I have higher priority stuff ahead of it, stuff that I have promised to other people. That has to come first.

Of course, it could be a big cover-up to throw you of the scent. :D

Hi Firebird
I have already admitted to grobeling.
Truthfully, I have always thought that would be right up your guys alley.
A professional JANET package.
By MAIW of course.
I know you guys have allot of other commitments and priorities.
It is a fun thought. :D

It is but truthfully the one thing that really could be a bit of a stumbler, is scenery.

To do scenery and/or afcads for 3 places would not be easy, I am thinking specifically about KLAS here. Even if we ignored doing scenery the afcad would be a lot of work for somebody as you would have to do the civvie parking as well. Then you have the military bases.
Gone are the days that we could simply do three plain afcads.

Its obstacles like these that ensured that the MAIW policy about packages evolved. We don't take requests and we don't announce what we are doing, precisely because what seems a good idea at the time can have many pitfalls before being released and people can get frustrated when they don't get what they want, or are expecting.

For me personally I would want scenery or enhancements for KLAS, Groom Lake and TTR. The flight plans aren't too difficult. The AI aircraft exist, and I am sure that Graham could knock up the paints in about 15 mins.

I explain this fully for your interest and also for those patient supporters of us out there that accept our policy but don't quite understand why its in place. This is a good example of that.

I started making this package a while ago, then a black van with tinted windows pulled up and parked outside my house............

If you do go ahead with this package, let me know as I work at KLAS and will give any info I can.

Thanks. Like I said I have all the info including the serials of the 6 new -600s, and sample flights. Pics of the aircraft for colour schemes.

The difficult thing would be the sceneries. It may be that we could point people to freeware ones available but this isn't exactly satisfactory.

Thanks, foufure.

I have those. The 6x -200s have all been replaced now, there are 6x -600s in their place. There are also 5 Beechcrafts in service as well.

I made flightplans for the 3 or 4 Beechcraft King Airs. The repaints were found on avsim.

Well if it ever gets off the drawing board we seem to have the help to make it happen.

Let's close this topic. It will appear if it ever appears.
