ENAN Scenery

Post by jimrodger »

After downloading Ray Parkers Norwegian P-3 repaints (great looking repaints, by the way) I find that the scenery for Andoya is decidedly sparse. Modded an AFCAD, but my scenery skills are pathetic to say the least
On that note, does anybody know of a scenery package for Andoya.
Lots of Norwegian packages about, but nobody seems to include Andoya.

You are right. Looks like Andoya is overlooked.

I once did a simple version, using a modified afcad and some scenery objects I placed with ez-scenery. I think I can do a lot better than that now ;-) Might do a new version using MAIW objects.. what do you think?

Dave, you know the answer to that question before you even ask it. We are all addicts here. :smt003

Would love to see one done, definitely a gap in the maritime world.

Guys,

As I'm working on this project I noticed some shelters for which I can't find a proper model in the MAIW libs. Sure I can pick an alternative that comes close, but maybe one of you scenery experts could take a look at it. It's a kind of 'dig-in' model with a texture that matches the surrounding surface.

Would be great if someone could find the time.

Here's the 'beta release'

Give it a try if you like... and please tell me what you think.

You need some MAIW libs for the scenery objects:

MAIW_ABO
MAIW_aircraft_shelter_library
MAIW_MirageF1_Objects_library
MAIW_RAF_Hangars_Library

And the Vintage Military Buildings SS from flightsim.com (vintmlss.zip).

There's one hangar (the camo-type) from a HSP Greece scenery project. If you already have it, it will show up. I am trying to contact these guys to maybe include it.

Think it's a good thing to point out that this scenery is optimized for Ultimate Terrain Europe. Some of the shelters are really close to the coastline and I think they might be flooded in the default FS9 scenery :smt104 :smt042

If the airport background polygon extends past the shelters would they stay dry?? I'm just asking this because I'm useless with scenery and don't know better.

I have it loaded into FSX w/Ultimate Terrain Europe, and FSGenesis Mesh, and it fits pretty nicely. 8)

Glad you like it!

Now went over to Ørland (ENOL) for a similar scenery project, including 338 Skv F-16 traffic. After that I might get into Bodø (ENBD). A 'Norwegian Airports' version already exists, but the military part isn't very accurate.

Also did a repaint for one of the new RNoAF C-130J.

I'll keep you guys posted in a new topic.

Dave;

Tried it. Liked it very much. Only mod - I had to change the type of the two parking spots on far side of field to mil combat as the P-3's insisted on parking over there - not closer to the hangers.

Joe,

Maybe the atc_parking_codes in your aircraft.cfg? It should match the parking code in my AFCAD or else they will park at the lowest number available (with sufficient size and the correct type - mil_cargo). This is indeed at the far Northwest side of the field, intended for an occasional visit from a C-130J. :-)

Not at home right now but I will check the P-3's configs.
Yes indeed, have to leave room for Odin & Tor & all the others.
JB

:arrow:Just checked and all my NoAF P-3's had "P3" for parking - changed them to "P3C".
:smt041 Now everybody's happy !
