RAF Sqn disbandments and redundancies

Post by CelticWarrior »

I wasn't aware of this, but just read on the Beeb.

"Two Tornado squadrons will be disbanded - 14 Squadron based at Lossiemouth in Moray, and XIII Squadron from Marham in Norfolk."

The article doesn't give a time frame for the disbandments.

Also, today at 0900hrs the RAF rotary students here were given the list of removals from flying training. 24 of 78 have been removed and I'm led to believe that around 90% of students at Valley have gone.

A sad day for the individuals concerned.

Here is the answer to that one -

And with the last Nimrods going soon, Libya's Air Force may well be bigger than ours........

Yep, and Cameron was talking about intervention in Libya. With what? Six kites, three canoes, four go karts and a platoon of girl guides armed with a spud gun?

From The ARmy Rumour SErvice
The MOD has just announced that RAF aircraft have deployed to Malta to enforce a military no-fly zone over Libya. Their role will be to enforce UN Resolution 5.386 - "To deny the Gaddafi Regime the facility to commit genocide on the people of Libya."

The RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight comprising a Lancaster Bomber, a Red Arrow Hawk and a Spitfire have been sent, as that's all that is left of the RAF. A last minute decision by the government stopped these aircraft being sliced up into pieces for scrap.

The air crews were recalled from leave as they had been given a "long-weekend" in lieu of the previous weekend when they has worked marching in the Brighton Gay Pride Day.

A MOD spokesperson stated: "these airframes may be old but they are as robust and fit for purpose as the day they were built."

I think it's about time to sell this once great nation of ours, highest bidder takes all... :)

I've lost total confidence in any government that get elected, thay all have great speeches and plans drawn up but once "in power" it's a different story!!
I don't claim to knowledge of how the "Great Thinking Ones" work, I'm not politically minded and I don't follow politics anyway, but I know it can only get worse..

I'm Sure it will go to China

We owe China so much here in the US that they could call us on our debt and we would have to default

I think that dropping Wayne Rooney on an enemy is against the Geneva Convention. The guy is just too ugly to be used in modern warfare.

No, but I can make a very angry face. And some of the students have been known to use some very nasty words!
