Hello everybody,
I'm keen on creating some waypoints for some flightplans I'll release soon. How do I make them with ADE9X?
How do you make waypoints in ADE9x?
Re: How do you make waypoints in ADE9x?
If you are creating waypoints then I don't really see the need for ADE9X. They are simple points with no facilities, especially if they are in mid-air, so you could use afcad just as easily.

...or simply insert the coordinates in your airports.txt...Firebird wrote:If you are creating waypoints then I don't really see the need for ADE9X. They are simple points with no facilities, especially if they are in mid-air, so you could use afcad just as easily.
You don't need ADE9 neither AFCAD

Only in this case the aircraft will disappear when approaching the waypoint if the aircraft remains within the sectors around your user aircraft (e.g. when you follow it).bismarck wrote:...or simply insert the coordinates in your airports.txt...

Thanks again!
I managed to create some, we'll see if they work.

AFCAD (or AFX) won't create way points as far as I know. If you want to create them in ADE then you can but they need to be associated with an airport. You can use the Approach Designer to place waypoints and then use them with approaches if you wanted to go that far.
ADE does not support route waypoints or route design.

I believe they mean waypoints as in the "fake airport" kind of waypoint. Ie a tiny little runway in the middle of nowhere that a plane can fly to and then fly somewhere else without landing (using a missed approach). In this case, ADE works fine-I set up a flightplan and waypoint for the Icelandic coastguard in this way.

Hi Jon, nice to see you again here.
The name "waypoint" is confusing indeed. You are of course correct saying that FS9/X don't use en route waypoints for navigation. So - as tango234 explained - we send AI aircraft on a TNG flightplan to a "fake" elevated airport with no facilities but a short invisible runway, and then back to its home base. The disadvantage is that the AI aircraft will fly an approach to that airport with the gear down and everything before going around, but it's better than nothing. These "fake" airports have become known as "waypoints".
